I would suggest you have the animal looked at by a vet. After all they're supposed to be your best friends.I mean this kindly,
you wouldn't let a human down by not taking them to a doctor. It could just be arthritis depending on the age of the dog. Good luck and we'll pray for your you both.

I think it is VERY possible this is nothing more then a elbow hygroma. Does it look like an egg right on the elbow? Is it kinda squishy and you can move it around a bit?
These are common occurances in large dogs and caused by them plopping down on the elbows onto hard surfaces. Even if you supply a soft bed for your dog they can still get them when plopping down in the dirt or the yard or the kitchen floor etc. You do need to make sure he has a soft bed or blankets to lay on but as I said these things do happen.
Advice... If your vet says this is a hygroma, DO NOT let him drain it. That only makes them worse and opens them up for infection but a lot of vets seem to want to do this. Massage it vigorously when ever you get a chance when he is just laying around relaxing. Adding some raw vinegar to his water can help break up deposits. This WILL go away but might take a few months. Once it goes away you will more then likely never see it again.
I had a Dane that had one so big it would swing like an egg when she gaited across the yard or show ring! LOL
Vigorous massage and vinegar either in her water or a tablespoon on the food each day will help.
Good Luck!

Take her to the vet asap, large breeds are vulnerable to bone cancers in the shoulders, elbows, carpus, and hips. Even if it's not cancer, a prolonged large swelling should be evaluated for other possibilities like bone infection, capsulated abscess, and many other things.

If your vet can't see what is obvious, then you need to find a better vet. Your dog has a problem and needs medical attention. If one vet can't seem to help, it is up to you as a responsible pet owner to find someone who can.

There is no way of helping without seeing it. You should never wait that long the dog needs to see the vet.I hope for the dogs sake you haven't waited to long.
Get an appointment as soon as possible.
