You can't change him or who he is or his style. When he dresses up, you can praise him and if he likes the attention you give, maybe he will want to change.

I too would have been upset..but I would also have been thrilled that he came to the ceremony.
Talk to him about always wearing shorts when you've had plenty of time to simmer down. Whatever you do, do NOT bring up the fact that he wore shorts to your graduation ceremony. Bringing up the past in disagreements is never a good idea.

Just leave it alone. Why should it matter what he wore to your graduation? At least he came to your graduation. If you love him it really shouldn't matter what he wears, should it? You have to learn not to "sweat the small stuff" cuz otherwise you will always be fighting with him over something. It will eventually cause strains with the relationship.

If ou love this guy, then you need to also be able to love every flaw he has. lol Including his shorts. When I graduated the guy I was with at the tme, showed up in a muscle shirt, and a pair of shorts. I was like..eww. lol But it was ok, I was in the spotlight that day anyways. It was all good. Dont worry about your guy. You love him, then it souldn't matter what he wears. As long as he is trying to look good for you:)

It's just a pair of shorts.
If he showed up at your graduation holding a sign saying "Nathalie used to be a man" or something then yeah get mad, he was an idiot. But if he always wears shorts then he was just being himself. It's just shorts!!

If it really bugs you and you have an honest relationship - yeah, say something. It doesn't have to be cruel or blow up into a major fight. Then you can move on...Unfortunately if you wish to continue with this relationship you are going to have to lay out his clothes for him (like a mom) esp. if you go out some place nice. That could either annoy you or him further (or be an easy fix). Maybe ask him what you can do to help him. He may actually appreciate that but if he resents you for trying to "control" him, then you two could be sparring for awhile.

I think you should just let it go. It's not something critical at any rate, if he was to go in his underwear that would be a different story. If you love him or really like him it should not matter what he wears, what counts is that he is there supporting you and nobody else. And that is what really counts. Next time that there is an event similar to this just ask him to wear pants or w/o.

sounds like your BF doesn't take your feelings into consideration. My guy is a dress down guy but when it comes to special occassions like weddings and graduations he wears dress dockers and a sports shirt. I can't ask for any better from a man who wears faded jeans with patches all over em and cut off jeans for shorts. :D

no, if shorts are the only difference you have then you're doing better than the rest of us. Guys just have to be how they are. Mine never dresses up either except to put on a collared shirt with his jeans...I still think he's hot. Just a different outlook on life.

I don't think so, if it's his style he probably didn't see anything wrong with it. If you really want to change your unfashionable boyfriend do it in sublt ways like suggesting some style in sunglasses or scarfs and gloves (in winter). Slowly he'll probably let you get closer and closer, as of now it would be pointless to get mad.
