When using lemon to lighten hair dont wash first. Put the lemon in your hair and sit out in the sun for about thirty minutes then wash the lemon out.

I would wait a day to wash the hair, then apply lemon. It might be too harsh and dry your hair out otherwise. I always thought the sun would help the process anyway.
