Every dog we've ever had has run away, but now my mom wants another one. My dad doesn't and they've really been at odds about this. I'm just worried that my dad won't love the dog if it comes and my mom will only get angrier at him. Ordinarily, we all love dogs, but just can't bear to have our hearts broken again. I don't think getting a dog is a good idea. Is there any way I can reason with her. My mother is very bad on following through on commitments and lacks the patience to properly train a dog or take it to obedience school. Therefore the responsibility for feeding, exercising, disciplining, and picking up after the dog will likely fall on my dad, who already is very busy with work, since my mother won't. She probably wants the dog because her children are all starting to grow up and leave her, but a dog is a 13-15 year commitment, and I don't want to see anyone hurt, including my parents or an innocent dog.

My dad wanted the other dogs and my mom got sick of them. We think she gave at least one away secretly and told us it ran away

Just get another dog but take care of it, but the only time your hearts will probably be broken again then is when it dies, but this time it wouldn't be your fault. I know I am not the best at encouraging but the dogs are fun just get one.

She's looking for somebody to love! Strange that all the other dogs have run away!! I'll bet they could have been taken away by the dad??? Your mother sounds depressed--maybe go with her to a therapist/counselor! Probably the dog is just the tip of the iceberg.

Ask her who's dog it will be .Who will walk it.Food it ..Ask her who will play with the dog and if something happen to her .Who will take the dog then .read this to her.i wanted a small dog but my girls 19 and 17.Talked me into with a big one .Well I ended up with all the responsibilitys.They left home .I ended up with a dog .I have to get up at 6:30 every morning to walk her .And she crys because i can't play with her.Tell your mom to think long and hard. As dogs never care for themselfs.

get her a nintendo ds lite, and get her every version of nintendogs.
