Ok--I fully realize I am not very well versed on military tactics--------------------but could it be possible to have our soldiers act as 'spotters'-------watching for high risk or suspicious vehicles...and then having Muslim Clerics actually do the stopping and the investigating of the vehicle----------------EFP's are deadly roadside bombs that hurl a fist-size slug of molten copper that penetrates armor, a weapon that has been highly effective against American forces over the past year.----------------we all know the enemy uses our red tape to strangle us---------is this a possible way to turn the tables?

I feel like the only thing they will be accountable to is force. And it needs to be done with shear volume. And unity withine the Countries who do not wish it to grow any larger.

First where do you get the Muslim Clerics to do the investigating. They are the equivalent of priests and they do not get their hands dirty. Other people do the real work. As far as accountability the only way I see is to do like the Soviets did in Lebanon in early seventies. The wife of a junior military attache was kidnapped. A Spetnaz team was turned lose and on the third day of her being held a mail truck delivered a box to the leader of the group who had kidnapped her. That box contained the heads of every known member if his family. The woman was released that day with apologies and no Soviet citizen in Lebanon was ever bothered again. That is the kind of accountability that the Muslim fanatic understands. We should use it.

I'm not an expert in military tactics either, but it seems to me that we are thinking along about the same lines except for one item.

In liberating Afghanistan and Iraq we should have taken a tip from Lawrence of Arabia, who helped Arabs liberate themselves from the Turks rather than do the liberating for them. He even refused to join in the victory parade through the capital city.

Since Saadam was so disliked by his own people, it seems we could have recruited an army of Iraqis to do the close combat while we provided long distance high tech artillery and air support. I guess we should be on bases in uninhabited areas of the country providing training and the sort of high tech support we shouldn't put in the hands of foreigners who could turn against us.

Better yet, we should have by now developed nonlethal weapons that would enable us to capture enemies rather than kill them and innocent people who happen to be nearby. I would think that would reduce the revenge motive and the cycle of violence that has erupted.

But, as I said, I am not a military expert.

The one item that I disagree with you on is the use of Muslim Clerics. The two opposing Muslim sects would seem to have no hesitation to kill the clerics of the other sect; and of course the clerics might not be willing to work as policemen.

Al Qaeda gained't connect forces with Cuba even if Cuba needs to affix with them, because Al Qaeda is fundamentalist Islamic, and to them, Communists are worse infidels than even Christians.

One of many problems with this idea is that they hate each other more than they hate us. So put a bunch of them at a road block and the opposite sect will see it as a great target.

If we could get Muslim Clerics to do this, and trust them doing it; then yeah I like it

Let me ask you a question..is it possible to force accountability on the US government...it is the same thing..both believe they are right and both are killing indiscriminately...a guerrilla war is the most difficult and almost impossible to fight...when an outnumbered group resorts to these tactics there is little anyone can do to stop them...the first real serious terrorist activity started with Israel when they were fighting to become a state and the Muslim extremists and other groups learned and improved on the method.

There's no way, I think I see what your trying to drive at, but no those people will stab all of us in the back at the drop of a hat.

That's actually a very interesting question. But I don't think they would do it. They think they are doing god's work.
