I've plugged in the HD cable from the cable box to the TV, and all the channels work through the cable box, but everything seems to be stretched wider than it should, and I don't think the HD channels are actually broadcasting in HD. How do I hook everything up correctly and make sure everything looks as good as it should (i.e. the non-HD channels look normal and the HD channels look great)?

First, go on your cable set-top, go to setup and specify that you have a 16:9 TV (the default may still be 4:3).
Then specify the output to be either 1080i or 720p (NO 480p or 480i)
If the aspect is wrong, use the "aspect" button on the TVs remote control to pick the correct one. In many cases, the aspect ratio is controlled by the set-top box, so check your set-top's remote.

I at the instant have a fifty two inch HDTV yet no HD cable container and wager what....? It seems all pixelated with my analog cable. i'm making plans on getting a HD cable container interior the close to destiny. optimistically i'm getting greater powerful image.

there should be zoom options. you can either zoom in and cut pieces of the top and bottom off or another zoom option where it adds bars to the left and right side of the picture.
