Hello there.

I'm so worried. I work in an insurance company and they told me yesterday that I have one week to reach my targets or I'll lose my job. Anyway, I'm not good enough to reach the targets they have given me, for instance I have invoices to do etc and the people who send them in make a mess of some of them so it takes me longer than I hoped so I fail another target for being too slow. I crack up at times like those so I become even worse and underachieve more.

They've given me a week to 'buck my ideas up' but I know they've already made their minds about me, and no matter how much I improve in the next week it won't be enough for them. I've only worked there 4 months and its made me feel sick today. If I lose this job, my parents and family will see me as a failure, and future employers will see someone who fails to live up to targets, its all about targets these days.

What should I do? I feel so terrible about all this and a dimming future. I wish I'd never been born

Okay, calm down. There are always other options. One time or another we've all had to leave our jobs or was let go. Look for another company. Look at it as you having some experience in this field now or now have a new experience to add to your resume. If insurance is not your thing, keep looking for what is. Are you in sales? There's car dealerships or retail. Or if you would like to stay in insurance but didn't like the position, then try at another place but for another position. One thing about sales or working w/customers is you have good days and bad days. Stop faulting yourself. Sometimes it's the time of the year, the economy, the product, etc. No, your parents or friends will not think of you as a failure. Just say you decided to leave because you didn't like this field and want to try something else. Just take this as a lesson and find something else. Hey, it's their loss. Trust me, we've all been there at some point. Good luck!

Get out of there. Find something that you have a passion for and pursue it.

Sounds like you are working for a bunch of jerks.

Don't beat yourself up. You are gaining valuable Life Lessons. You only fail if after you fall down, you don't get up.

Now: Put on a big Smile. Think Positive. Move forward.

Usually I suggest people start their own business (can't get fired). If that is of interest, send an email and you can start learning about some great options that are out there.

You may also want to read Robert Kiyosaki's best seller: Rich Dad, Poor Dad. It will teach you how business really works (and is not taught in schools)

Keep Smiling!

It is probably time to move on. No job is worth so much aggravation. Losing any job does not immediately make someone a failure. It is more important how you see yourself than how your family or prospective employers see you. Don't condemn yourself over a job that you have only been at for four months. It is, quite simply, not worth it.
