one of my friends trys that all the time...but since I know she has way more issues then me I pay no attention to her...I love her and I try to look past what she is saying and just think to myself of the reason why she is saying this...you always have got to rememeber that people like to demean other people because they have way more issues they are dealing with themselves...and sometimes you have to look past it and forget it...

I would say, "stop demeaning me to make yourself feel better about your own insecurities"- however, this will probably not return the desired effect...

Smiling, not being phased by the comment, and praising them in the areas you feel they are insecure about may produce a very satisfying reaction- the people/person in question is usually only trying to draw attention to their insecurity without realising it, as they would like deep down some reassurance that they have nothing to worry about, or that it is not a problem to you.

if its their insecurities then you should use that against them. and be really mean about it too. even if its someone that you know or like. those are the best. then you can be the one that is demeaning to them for their insecurities instead of the other way around. remember its better to give than to receive.

they often cant help it and its usually not with purpose or intent , its best just to say "yeah whatever " and know in your own mind and thought that you know what is right and wrong and nobody with any insecurities can ever change that ,if someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, foregive them for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to who you open your heart to. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you but because they are teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you never would have seen or felt without them

My brother is very good at glibly calling attention to the insecurities of someone who verbally attacks him; while this is often entertaining to see; I don't encourage this at all! I think trying to stay away from these jerks and not playing their games and feeding into their neediness will help you feel better.

Look at them and smile with confidence. Do not feed them with your own insecurity. Thats what they want. Misery loves company.
