The whole idea is stupid. Sorry, but killing something innocent doesn't relieve anybody else of responsibility for doing wrong. That's just outdated scapegoating.

Do you really think that a "wooly thing with four legs" has the capability of forgiving your sins? Today we look back at the cross and remember His sacrifice. Since this event had not yet taken place they had no such ability. Rather they looked forward to a day when the sacrificial system would be finished thru the representation of animal sacrifices of many types. Once Jesus died on the cross the sacrifical system was completed and thus we no longer have to "sacrifice" animals.
Cheers

He could not have been a sacrificial lamb. All sacrifices were to be made in the Temple in a manner prescribed in Leviticus. All sacrifices were to be without blemish. The only part of the sacrifice meant for God was the aroma -- the meat, grain, oil, etc. were used to feed the Levites. Human sacrifice was NEVER acceptable to God.

The consensus is that no person seems to understand the bible to any great quantity even after 2k years because of the fact this is inception and the dogma seems to hold sway over all of them, by using preachers customarily who perpetuate the ideology fairly. God is in heaven and the grasp Jesus continues to be on earth at present and known coaching his disciples interior the worldwide at great. Likewise the Christ consists of forth this comparable function to replace the worldwide into the recent age of Aquarius.

Animal sacrifice was replaced by the Jewish prayer service. No need for any lambs at all.
The concept of animal sacrifice had become retrograd. The concept of human sacrifice was, and continues to be, an abomination.

God required different types of animals for sacrifice.
Each time (or most) the animal had to be without blemish. That is what Jesus was, He took the place of us all. He died in our place, and rose again.

The Bible tells us"there is no remission of sins without the shedding of blood" God's rules not mans. In the old testament animal sacrifices were made by the high priest in the part of the temple called the "holiest of holies" this sacrifice was made to pay for the atonement of sins for those who were believers in Jehovah and believed in the coming of the Messiah. The Messiah (Jesus Christ) came to fulfill "The Law" so that man would have a redeemer and sacrifices would no longer be required. Christ came to die, this was His purpose in coming, His life was not taken He lay down His life. The reason He was accepted by God as the sacrifice for mankinds sins was He was "perfect" He had never sinned and was therefore accepted by God. So the term "Lamb of God" comes from His giving of His life for mankind, He took your place and mine at the cross. Our part is to have the faith that what He did is true, in other words according to God's Word if we place our faith in Christ alone as our Lord and Saviour and follow Him all the days of our life we will be blessed and when we die our souls will spend eternity in heaven with God. We will not have to stand before the Lord at the "Great White Throne Judgement" for God will see our sins have been covered by the shed blood of Christ. He tells us when we accept Christ our names will be written into the "Lambs book of Life"! Hopefully this helps in your understanding of "Lamb". You need to make this choice your self, God loves you and this is why He sent Christ for you but He wants you to choose, choose Christ is to choose life, reject Him is to reject Gods's gift which will lead to hell.

sounds a little barbaric when you put it that way
I think those laws were meant to support the priests and beggars in a temple who had no real job but to mooch off citizens and be supported by fear of not doing so
