There are enough glorified apes on this planet... destroying life for the other creatures, introducing excess electromagnetic and chemical pollution, disrupting and complicating the economic fuselage to the point of thievery being considered a righteous methodology, stirring conflict and perpetuating discord... why bring more humans into the equation? I support childbirth, but only if it is one child per parent or less... any more would be waste and selfish excess... there is no good argument against this idea... unless you can prove me wrong?

Alexandrea C, you make a good point. I actually didn't see it that way.

I do realize that killing is wrong, but for those people that are reckless... something must be done... this is an emergency situation... not a 'Nazi' regime...

GreenGrasshopper... you do not think that I would sacrifice my life for the betterment of all? You are a fool. I would lay my gift of life down in a flash if it meant that the cycle could continue. You obviously have no idea how to recognize a warrior... meaning that you are likely NOT one!

Prevention is worth a pound of cure and it would end this insane argument. Bravo Mr. Wiccan! Free vasectomies all round! Oh well...maybe not 'all'...in addition make the morning after pill freely available to all females! It is not true that it is available to everyone, we live in different places remember!Ding dong anyone home?

Now as for actual abortion. No one chooses what hapens in my body. My body, my territory. Done!

Having said that I personally couldn't do it. I havn't been there so I won't judge. We all have to realise that flat out black and white statements of right and wrong are always going to be unfair and inappropriate somewhere down the line! So try to catch on that it is a case by case thing.

The method of abortion is barbaric even in a medical facility. If they are going to continue doing this they need to make it more humain and don't jump all over me for that. It is still a far cry from the back alley abortion crap. A real degredation of the human spirit that is.

There is the whole thing about womans place in society. This issue has its extensions into a lot of areas. You younger women generally speaking about the ones I meet, are less aware where this can go. For some reason you just don't recognise the danger.

So, lets approach it constructivly not as enemies.

Peace and common sense. But of course...that's not going to be possible for some of us is it?

OK I didn't talk about the planet...well you are right IMO. The people who take the view that we still have lots of room for growing food don't recognise or understand the extreme importance of wild spaces!!!!!! Those spaces are not just 'things' we can use or not use. They are the living planet! We need those 'places'!!! Those that say we can utilize what we are usiong now better, I agree...lets all go organic! I mean it. I have a friend who is, or has been a GMO researcher. I disagree with him on a lot of things. Some hybradization I can live with altering creating toxins and so on no!

My point is unfolding. If everyone living in the cities were to walk out of town and live on the land this second, could it sustain us?

We need to stop our distructive lifestyles and to do that we need to use purchase power more than anything else. The BIG GUNS of the mega corperations have their ways of decieving us but if we hold fast, and see through the smoke screens and the glist and fear mungering, we can change the world! We would all sleep better. I know I would.

Your question was asked with such heart! Thanks!

I agree that there are more than enough humans on the planet mucking things up, but I completely disagree as to abortion being a valid solution for it.

Apparently a lot of people just cannot grasp this simple concept: Sex makes babies!

It sounds so obvious, and yet (go check out Yahoo Q&A on Pregnancy) thousands of girls all over the U.S. are going to act completely surprised today when the test results say they're pregnant. They rolled the dice sexually, maybe they tried to change the odds with pills or condoms, but they won a free baby!

This may seem off subject, but lets review something real quick:

Robbing a bank = Jail time

Failing to make your car payment = Car gets repo'd

Smoking = Lung Cancer

I could go on indefinitely here, the point being that your actions have concrete and usually predictable consequences. If you don't like the possible consequence (Lung cancer) then you should be smart enough to not engage in the action (smoking) which causes it. Sounds simple enough, right?

This next statement should be pretty easy to predict:

IF YOU DON'T WANT A BABY, DO NOT HAVE SEX!!!

Providing women with the "right" to escape the consequences of their actions may seem reasonable considering that the consequences of a quickie can last a lifetime, but sends an entirely wrong message. Actions are supposed to have consequences.

I do not mean to downplay the agony and stress of having to decide whether or not to abort a baby...I would prefer that she feel that agony and stress because she can't dodge having the baby though. How many young girls, properly educated about the consequences of sex (if abortion were not an option) would start closing their legs? How much would unwanted pregnancy go down if everyone started extolling the virtues of abstinence??

This isn't even a religious debate, the issue of abortion affects everyone. The issue of unwanted pregnancy affects everyone. There are untold thousands and thousands of young ladies right now in America who never graduated High School because the dropped out to take care of their baby, and many thousands more who had abortions. What this tells me is that the American attitude towards sex has gotten far too lackadaisical. We use sex as a recreational tool, and do not give it the respect it deserves for it's procreational power. This lack of respect for sex is behind all those unwanted babies and a huge percentage of the abortions. Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Agnostics, atheists and everyone else in America need to stand together on this one. It is time to reverse the trend, and teach our children that abstinence is the right answer. Maybe then we can get closer to a point where America doesn't need abortions anymore.

If you were willing to sacrifice your OWN life for the good of the planet, your suggestion might have more validity. But, I highly doubt you would do that. Instead, you advocate taking another's life. Although I believe humans are much more than "glorified apes," your suggestion is murder, at worst, and thievery, at best, which is rather animalistic in itself.

I could go all "Modest Proposal" on you and say, "Why don't we start killing some of the kids that are already here? I mean, sheesh, they're small now, but they'll only get bigger and consume more resources. If we get rid of just 10% of those suckers, there'd be more left for us."

Bottom line is that you're right in a sense that we are destroying life for other creatures and destroying the lives OF other creatures. But any suggestion to continue doing so for our own selfish gain can only, ultimately, result in an even greater loss.

i agree that abortion is okay. The embryos don't even have a nervous system yet when you are allowed to abort (and the previous law as well not this new one by evangelicist christains). There are a lot of people on the planet who are homeless and have screwed up lives. If someone wants an abortion that means they don't think they can take care of the soon to be child. Do we want the child to suffer? No. Let the abortion take place. I agree with you. On the other hand, the one child per parent set I don't for some want more children and can afford it comfortably. I believe you shouldn't have more than 3 though or otherwise you would be doubling the next generation's population. But pretty much as long as you can afford it and can handle it i don't see much issue.

If we want to throw out all morals and that we are judges of all life, especially those weaker than ourselves I guess you could kill anything you saw as a threat. I don't see, however, where you or anyone else has the authority to act in such a way. After all you are just a glorified ape... Jim

I do not support abortion. But I believe the woman has the right to decide.

I do believe that most unwanted pregnancies could be avoided, if the MEN, (not the women), were more responsible.

Contraceptives can be harmful to the women's health in the long run. The easiest and quicker method of preventing unwanted pregnancies is by us men getting a vasectomy. It only takes 5 minutes.

How about get rid of all humans that cause pollution in one way or another?

What makes u think that one of those kids that u don't want alive, will someday save the planet?

Instead of killing babies that haven't done anything yet, then lets kill everyone, that way the animals can live in peace....

Abortion is murder no matter how you "give rights" for it and the result of that action never leaves the persons who participate in it.
IF you have had one, you are very deceived and IF you haven't, you should sit with those who have experienced the after-affects of it no matter how long ago!
How about talking to anyone who will be honest with you about how they are plagued with this after the fact.
God says taking the life by intent is murder and there are punishments for anyone even causing a pregnant woman to lose her child.
Whether you accept that or not is your business, but to campaign for this form of murder is appalling and heart breaking. Get a REAL life and save one.

no point going to war against an unarmed person---does this mean you are an only child, or did your parents abort the others. selfish to have more than one child and use abortion to get rid of others? Ever hear of birth control, other than abortion? There is no excuse in this day and age for unwanted pregnancy, abortion is selfish!

Abortion is the business of killing and those who shall be held accountable for killing is the business of God. Be it understood that some abortions are necessary to save a mother's life. Judging anything is a risky business. As you grow older and change so will your questions. Peace......
