why are indian muslims more modern people than muslims from other countries?

There are lots of indian female muslim bollywood stars and it happens only in india. Indian muslims are not only modern but very tolerant of other faiths as well.

Could it be because indian muslims are the only people who had a chance to experience democracy?

(india has always been a democracy and tolerant towards other faiths. I know that there have been clashes between hindus, sikh's and muslims, but they are all political problems)

That's not true at all. It's very wrong to give an absolute statement like that. Being modern has nothing to do with being a Muslim and it definitely has nothing to do with where you come from! There are many actresses in the world of Muslims besides those in Bollywood. Do some research about this and you'll be amazed by the results.

Pakistani muslim women are also tolerant for the most part. My parents grew up in a neighborhood where there were hindus and my mother used to wander away into their home when she was a child and they used to take care of her and entertain her. Unless you have been in the country you cant judge it like this. And you are I think associating the word modern with being more western which doesn't necessarily have to be better. But pakistani women in the city are also very "modern" and I saw a teenager in Islamabad dressed in tighter clothes girls here wear. Not that that is islamic but my point is no one is forcing her to dress in anyway. We went to Faisal Mosque and there were american tourists there wearing western clothes and no one was bothering them at all. There are a lot of Pakistani women that are actresses and they have a film industry that is horrible but still they do have it. I'm pretty sure you are Indian, and so may have negative feelings toward Pakistanis but I think your view is not accurate. I have had a christian Indian, hindu Indian, and sikh Indian as friends. Intolerance only comes with lack of education and closed-mindedness. But you always ask us why aren't muslims tolerant while being intolerant toward us. Even when we are being tolerant. Look inside yourself before you judge others.

You have given the answer yourself in the third paragraph. India has always been tolerant towards all religions and Muslims have their chances too. But some are involved in underworld activities or trying to destabilise India at the behest of more extremist forces residing outside of India. Many young minds are misled into believing that they are being discriminated against and hence seeds of discontent are sown. Muslims in India have equal chances and it is upto them to make the most of it. The Muslim women have full freedom here but it is their own maulvis or religious heads who curtail it.........

Personally, I think it's because they live in a diverse society, rather than a homogeneously Muslim one. Indians aren't the only Muslims who've had a chance to experience democracy - look at Tunisia, Lebanon...

Muslims of India most of them are good Muslims but the Muslims you are talking about, are Muslims by name only.
