I have a 2005 Nissan Titan and I tripped the air bag light when I turned on the ignition with the passanger air bag light unplugged and now I cant get the light to go off. I have tried every trick I know to get it to turn off. Does anyone have any ideas short of taking it to the dealer and paying them 70 dollars for 2 min of work

Here's the fix. I had this happen on my 2006 Titan and this cleared the issue.

1. Turn the key from off to on.

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

If it does not work the first time, just repeat the steps again.

Unfortunatly no you will have to take it to the dealer. Your dealer where you bought it might be helpfull. Or find out the name of the body shop that does all the dealers work go there and have the body shop drive it over. Because we deal in volume with body shops we generally clear air bag trouble codes for the body shop for free. If you were in Fort Worth TX I would clear that code and try to sell you something "need brakes?"

ah don't be sad ..if is a king cab there is a recall on the rear door harnesses which can cause a air bag fault .. get a service com. from Nissan dealer to see if your vehicle has any open recalls ..which could resolve your issue ..also you shouldn't tamper with any component of you air bag system can cause serious injury to you..be careful . from my experience i have seen issues with seat belt pre tensioners in titans ..also 05 model year is still under warranty if mileage 36,000 miles of less

i agree with sittinon, also a flat rate nissan master tech and we charge people who tried it and fried it too. you and the other belly-achers would not complain if you paid 70.00 and the repair took 3 hours. you win some you lose some. next time you will be more careful though i bet. sorry buddy.
