there is a fine line to be drawn when somebody with mental illness relys on answers from god from experience with my own daughter i know there were times when she expected answers and when she didn't get any she blamed god for her problems. she said if there was a god then she wouldn't be ill and i expect that a lot of mentally ill people must sometimes feel the same.

God never deserts. One time, I had this anxiety for two weeks. Then we went to a church, then after that, it was gone. That makes me more faithful.

I guess He's helped me when I let Him. But having a mental illness, I find it hard have faith in Him. When I'm doing well, I'm more aware of Him in my life, but when I'm depressed or manic, it's really hard to turn to Him, maybe because I'm so out of control. I'm sure though that He's kept me safe through a lot of what could have been disastrous outcomes.

God and mental illness don't mix! One will always impact on the other.

Hi Johnno,

This is Barry H as is obvious. Want to say hi to compassionate angel. I really think she's cute but alas I'm married now 5+ months.

Anyway, Let me say that there is a God and it's impossible to know him and see him work in your life without faith. He simply will not respond, the Bible says this " Without faith it is [impossible] to please GOD because anyone who comes to him 'must' believe that he exists and that [he] is a rewarder of those who [diligently] seek him. " If that 's not enough for you consider this...In Capernaum "Jesus was not able to do many miracles there because of their lack of faith", [and he was amazed at them]. Consider this also [ever wonder how some people are so successful in life and others fail. It's because they 'believe'/are 'very confident' that they will be . The Bible says 'GOD gives all men/women life and breath and everything else.' It also says for men like The Donald 'Mr. Trump' GOD will bless everyone even the 'wicked because 'they' believe he will.' We all know his story, a Billionnaire twice over and there are so many others, even unschooled men and women (not college grads). But the Bible also says, let no one forget, GOD gives the strength to produce wealth. 'So do not think only that it was the strength of your own hands that has produced your wealth.' Let anyone get sick and see how much you can do! The Bible goes on to say "The fool says in his heart, there is no GOD'. Chew on that for a little. So let those believe who will believe, and let those who refuse to believe, refuse, there is no excuse, (and ignorance does not count) because GOD has made himself both visible and available to all men and women. How?

1. From the creation (created things)
2. The life and testimony of Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD
3. By faith you can see GOD work in your life for yorself.

Choose this day who you will serve or whom you will believe, it's that crucial for your life!- 'Jesus Christ in a nutshell'.

To get back to the question posed, I have had mental illness myself and have never doubted God's presence with me, in me as a believer, and in my life. As a matter of Fact, I know GOD for myself and right now I am in the process, like Brooke Shields (don't know if she is a believer or not) of being weaned off my meds after many years on them. Wish me luck, I'm believeing sometimes that I can do it. Let's see!

Love to all, and regards
from Barry H

God will never desert you; it's about yourself and your belief in God that will help get you through, connect with him and he will ultimately help you.

Although you can rely on him, get other help to, like therapy/counsel.

Helped.

Everytime I talk to God, go to church and read the Bible, I don't need to take meds. as I feel peaceful.

Everytime I stay away from God, I start feeling sick again and have to take meds.
