I have 3 cats and one fo them loves to eat, and a family member recently told me that fatter cats dont live nearly as long as slimmer ones. is this true?

Sorry to say but yes. just as people the weight makes the heart work harder. Just think of all that's going on right now with people and children being overweight , the same goes for a pet whether cat or dog, or any other pet.

They are prone to heart disease and other illnesses..just like overweight humans are. Put them on a light cat food and within a few months, you will see a big difference.

It is true because a cat needs to be healthy just like us humans so being fat is not healthy and you should put your cat on a diet

Yes, it is true. My vet said so to my lady Alice. From that horrible day, Alice gives me tiny tiny portions of food and I am always hungry. She is not touched by my desperate meaownings or my playful tumbles around her. No, she will not give me anything extra to eat. I weigh almost 8 kgs. and vet says I should reduce to 5 kgs. immediately.

Sadly, it is true. Obese animals are prone to more diseases. I would try putting him on a diet.
