I read the bible last night for the first time in about a decade. I randomly opened it to Psalm 19 and it spoke to me on a deep level. I know this sounds corny but I actually felt the words were directed toward me. The verse discusses how we can hear God's word which is contained within nature. It just seemed to touch upon my current state of life. Kimmie could you read this verse and give me your opinion on it, it is brief. You might have started me onto something for I cannot deny evidence when it slaps me in the face.

This is a psalm I have never read before. When I did read it, it was like a refreshing drink of cool water on a hot day! I love how God always refreshes our spirit. Nature is so full of his glory and wonder at the same time, for some things we do not understand and there is no logic to prove, we only observe and soak in the vastness of his enormity and awesomeness. I really needed to read psalm 19;14---May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my rock, and my redeemer! We can all too often use our words as arrows piercing through the deepest part of someones heart. We have to keep ourself in check and to keep our words pure and of love. We also need to make sure our heart stays pure. That does not mean we do not ever feel defeated, angry or depressed, we just have to turn those feelings over to God and know he will comfort us and give us hope and wisdom! I do have to tell you that when I turned to this particular page in my bible, this page was cut differently than the others, coincidence? I think not, my God is bigger than I can imagine but works in very small ways!! Just one of the things you cannot wholly explain to others! Search on, for the Law of the Lord is perfect!!

Yes and Amen
Many years in the reading of God's Word and many books, so good. But there are times when something will just really jump off the pages at me. The way God works with His Holy Spirit.
Be blessed!<><

I don't make a practice of doing that because I am pretty familiar with the scriptures. On occasion that has happened to me though. I would say maybe a handful of times in over 33 years.

When you feel that it is hitting you on any level you should be sure and respond. God speaks to the heart, and if you read that portion of scripture and feel tugging in your heart you can be sure God is trying to communicate something to you.

I know that portion of scripture quite well. "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork; Day unto day utters speech, and night after night shows knowledge, AND there is no speech or language where their voice is not heard." ONE OF MY FAVORITE PARTS OF SCRIPTURE CLEARLY TELLING US HOW GOD REVEALS HIMSELF THROUGH HIS CREATION AND IT IS EVIDENT WORLDWIDE.

Yes, I have. My Methodist Sunday school teacher mother used to do this all the time. She did not acknowledge it as a form of divination, but of course it is. Many times she would open her Bible at random and get just the passage she needed for her Sunday school lesson. Also for the answer to problems in our family, and so forth.

There are many ways to access the guidance we need when we need it. There are many ways to explain why these seemingly random events are so effective. I prefer to just use them and let the explanations for why they work fall to others. But when I am reading Tarot cards and the same card comes up in the same position three times in a row in a session of readings, I pay attention.

Yes, many times! God's Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
This is just one of the ways in which the Holy Spirit speaks to us.

As God reveals Himself through nature, we learn about His power and our finiteness. As God reveals Himself through scripture, we learn about His holiness and our sinfulness.

As God reveals Himself through daily experiences, we learn about His gracious forgiveness that frees us from guilt.

God bless you - the Bible says: Those who search for me with all their heart shall find me.
My prayer is that You will find Him, for He is indeed the WAY,
the TRUTH and the LIFE.

God bless you my friend!

The has happened to me before. It was in Isaiah 29:8, and the meaning of it just hit me, as though the Lord wanted me to know what it meant. Believe me, it's not corny, it's God speaking to you through His Word.

I had been wanting an answer about something from God and couldn't find it in the Bible. I went for a drive and came up behind a car that had a Scripture written on its license tag. I looked it up and it was exactly what I was looking for. How random is that?

"I actually felt the words were directed toward me...It just seemed to touch upon my current state of life."

I cant really buy that argument, the bible is too general. You are simply having the same type of reaction of someone who reads their horoscope...they see 'something' and apply it to some or another area of their lives to create meaning.
