I majored in Japanese, so please have confidence in me: "Ai shiteru" (pronounced like eye-shee-teh-roo) is the literal phrase for "I love you", but is rarely used except by married couples or in dramas. It's a really intense phrase for the Japanese. More common is "kimi ga suki" (pronounced kee-mee gah soo-ki) or "dai suki" (pronounced die soo-ki) which directly translates as "I like you" and "I like you a lot", respectively. That is the phrase that unmarried couples use the most.

You should say, "Daisuki desu," or simply, "daisuki." Pronounce it da-eye-su-key, with an equal emphasis on each.... syllable... if you get my meaning.
You could say, "Aishiteru," but it is very, very strong; you would only say it just before you asked a Japanese to marry you, or on some other really, really special day. It's not incorrect, but it would be strange. Most couples usually only say "daisuki" to each other.

anata o ai shite iru. or you could just say "ai shite iru".
ai is pronounced like "eye", shite (sh-TAY), iru (ee-ru). careful the japanese R is pronounced kind of like a D or a cross between a D and an L, with the tongue on the bridge of the gum behind the teeth.
