A friend of mine asked me for a piece of advice and I'd like to inquire your opinions / experience.

He has been in a great relationship with a girl for the past 4 years. They have lived together for the last year and they have a very good relationship in all aspects. He is 25 and she is 22.

However, it is his FIRST AND ONLY relationship in his entire life and he obviously is having a hard time evaluating it as he has nothing to compare it to.

The fact is that he is doing a relocation next year and he must decide now whether his girlfriend would join him (she want to). Her joining him, obviously, means that they will MARRY. And so the question comes down to should he marry her?

Any advice / insights you can share with me and the rest of the world for the benefit of those who find gold on their first strike would be highly appreciated.

I think it's not a question if you should marry the first relationship you have, the question is should HE marry THIS girl. It seems to me if he is having a hard time with this, he's not ready to marry. Serious doubts about something should never be ignored, that is the road to misery.

They have been together for four years,And they have a good solid relationship, And if they love each other. Then why not get married? And on the relocation, Does she want to go with him? This is as much of a choice for her as it is for him. They are very to have found each other in the first place, Many of us search long and hard before we find the right person.
There is no doubt in my mind that they should get married.
I hope that helped, and best of luck.

I am in the same sort of position as him except I'm a bit younger and have only been together with my girl for a year and a half. I say that they should at least stay together until it runs dry. Marrying is far too risky these days, and a lot of marriages end up in divorces. But if he would like to go along with society and how it does things, as long as he is in love and it is a fantastic relationship: Marry. It's all in the personalities of both in the relationship. If they both would never want another love, then they should both never love another and spend their lives together.

Why SHOULD he need to compare it with anything else? Either he's happy or he isn't!

There's not a thing wrong with it. In fact, they have a GREATER chance of success than with partners who have "been around". Comparing is what makes people dissatisfied. We always assume someone or something will be better. It's usually not.

Mind your own business!

Heck ya. Even if it is the first relation ship it sounds how you put it that the couple are doing quite well. He is a very luck person because his first girl friend is the one. That doesnt happen often. I think he and she will be great together

Dont rush into marriage. Especially when they are both so young. Take it as a test of love. The girl can always join him later.

Avicoolm,
Everyone has to make there own decisions in life. I have seen this same situation fail and succeed. So basically I'm saying let him make his own decision, good bad or the ugly.
