in what sense? did the cat eat the motor oil? is it on his fur? i found a cat under the hood of my car once and she was so tiny and covered in oil and i put her in a carrier for a short amount of time to run a bath for her etc...and she had cleaned every bit of the motor oil off of her and she was perfectly fine since.....but if she drank a large amount i would get her to the vet asap!!!

well, if you cover a cat with motor oil, then set it on fire, this is one way for the motor oil to be harmful to a cat.
I dont think this was a serious question.

well..H-E-L-L-OOOOOOOOOOO!! yes it can be..they can get very sick and or die if ingested..alos it gets in their fur like any animal and will clog the oil glands and pores so to speak ...so keep all pets away from all that kinda stuff also keep away from anti-freeze that is DEADLY to cats n dogs
