Well, the bible that you quote it from is applying to the Jews before and of course Jesus was a Jew. However, the bible passage may not applicable to the christian this time. The trimming of Jews beard is symbolized the virginity of a man or an honorable person. If a man is without a beard, that means he is no longer a virgin or live in purity.
I don't think so, that Christian should shave!

This is probably a mystical metaphor in the sense that do not be appearance conscious. Do not shave with the aim of looking good! Identity with body and its appearance are impediments to spiritual evolution. All such advice are meant to guide one to the path of renunciation

Jesus said that the pharisees were more worried about appearences than what was needful to relate to people on this earth and to God the Father. His message was you must be more concerned with what lies within because thats what pleases God and causes the person to be able to honestly relate tohis fellow human beings. You must be reborn to please God by accepting His Jesus theChrist. Outside appearences matter little.

well, that's for the jews, not christians! The Old testament is full of "thou shall/shan't" and Jesus said is master of all of that. All the Law and The Prophets is fulfilled by this: "All you want others do to you, do also the same to them, this is the Law and the Prophets". Statement made by Christ himself whom CHRISTians follow!
