Twice in 2 days, this has happened. I touch in, the barrier opens to let me thru, thyen when I touch out on the other side, I have £4 stolen from my card, because I have been accused of not touching in. If the barrier opened for me, and it beeped, I obviously touched in.

Has anyone else had this happen to them, and if so, how can I get my £8 back? (As I said above, its happened twice in 2 days ... £8 in total.) I'm going to switch to a day travelcard, as its only an extra 50p, but at least I wont be robbed of £4 every time I use it. Any comments?

I noticed that £4 was taken from my Oyster because I came out of a station and onto a bus, but when I touched in on the bus, I was told I had no money left. I knew I had £3.50 left, so I went back to the station and checked my View Oyster Use on the screen. It claimed I hadn't touched in and £4 was duducted, not £1.50. (It was only 3 stops within zone 1.)

Call TFL Customer Services (0845 330 9876) and they will refund the extra. Don't forget it is not £4 they have taken, just the difference between £4 and what the fare should have been.

There have been many problems with oyster. You will get advice on their help line. Some of their advertising is false. They will not replace a registered card free of charge for someone who had an address outside the U.K. Also, if you have your registered oyster card lost/stolen, they will deduct £5 off your refund, which in some cases means no refund!!!!! Many people do not even notice the extra charges the system swipes from their card. Good luck in getting it sorted.

How are you noticing your change in balance? Is your oyster registered online? If so, you can see your journey listing on their website, showing what you have been charged. I noticed on my record that on an average journey I am charged £4 upon entry to a station, but £3 of that is automatically refunded & an additional £1.50 charged when exiting provided I touch out. Basically I was charged £2.50 instead of £5.50. Are you just noticing £4.00 appear on the barrier while entering?
