Hi,
This has nothing to do with liver. Following are the main causes of IBS
The cause of IBS is not fully understood. Most symptoms of IBS probably result from abnormal muscle movement or spasm of the lower part of the colon. Sometimes the spasm delays bowel movements. At other times it may lead to more rapid passage of stool, resulting in diarrhea. In either case the spasm causes abdominal cramps.
A specific food item may trigger the attacks. Spasms may also be triggered by stress or depression.

No, it can indicate a problem with your pancreas though. If you have this problem ask your doctor about Questran - it comes in sachets and try half a sachet every night - don't take any other drug at the same time. It is a vegetable derived resin. It is mainly used for lowering cholesterol in the UK. I read a forum on it and people described it as a miracle cure. I wouldn't go that far! You also need lots of soluble fibre in your diet if you're on Questran or it will cause constipation. If you replace something addictive with Questran that can be a big problem! But you at least get some relief from your symptoms and then have to deal with withdrawal from the addiction. IBS could be caused by something to do with the gall bladder too. Questran binds with the bile from the gall bladder. Good luck - if it works great come back and tell us!

IBS stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It has to do with your intestinal tract. I've had it for yrs. When I get a flare up, the intestinal track gets inflamed and causes quite a bit of pain. I have to take medications to control it. My Dr. never mentioned anything about the liver being involved. I have an awful case of acid reflux that comes along with the IBS. I hope I was some help.

No, it's a problem with the intestines, usually the large intestine. The causes are varied when it comes to IBS. If you suspect that you have a problem with your liver the dr can do a blood test to check the function of your liver to see how that is doing.

IBS is more indicative of Acidity in the stomach or the presence of lactose resistant strains of Bacteria and occasionally chronic Dysentery. Cases involving Liver are relatively less frequent.

i dont think it has something to do with the liver, by the sound of it, it is a syndrome in the bowels to become irritable. IBS is used to describe groups of abdominal syptoms for which no organic causes can be found. simply the symptoms can be exacerbated by stress, menstruation or gastoenteritis.(diarrhoea)

If you are lucky enough to be told by doctors what it causing ibs, which would be rare, because most admit they dont know,
it may be worth looking into lyme disease as a possible cause-often along with many other mysterious symptoms.
If you are in the UK,see sites below.

Don't think so, but could be to do with candida infection, or trapped/damaged nerve in spine - people who have back problems often notice that IBS disappears when this is sorted out.
