Why not...too short? Besides, being a PMO MP would suck just doing law enforcement on post all day. I was MPCSO and that kinda sucked cause my unit was on an FTX about every 6 weeks.
Anyway, there are sooo many jobs that can directly transfer into the civilian sector. My advice, do NOT get a job to "plan ahead". Get a job you really want to do no matter what it is. I mean a job your are willing to volunteer for extra duty time for. And, yes, the number one rule in the military is "never volunteer for anything." :P
Get in, get yourself doing a job you really enjoy, get an education, and worry about cilivian life when you're about to become a civilian again.
Try something in the Intelligence area. It wouldn't mean you would have to get out and join the CIA or other similar agency, there are simply many many aspects of those jobs that look good to a future possible civilian employer.

Most jobs that don't involve guns and bombs have a civilians use.

A friend of mine was a water purification specialist and when he got out he went to work for Sparklets making $20 an hour.

Don't focus on an MOS with civilian coorelation. Even the ones that do are going to require a college degree. Get your college done in your free time, and save your G.I. bill when you get out to finish up or go for your graduate degree.

You've not mentioned why you can't be an MP. That's the most important factor. If you have a criminal record, you pretty much have cook and cav scout from which to choose.

Try Recriuting. You'll be able to be in the army still, be back in your hometown, and deal with civilians everyday.

68W <-- combat medic... when you get out of the Army you could become an EMT. Or do something with Aviation, either fly or maintain/fix.
