These are the terms for different aspects of a tri-une God, best explained in Roman Catholic doctrine. there isthe trinity of God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. The same entity, GOD, but separated personalities. God in three persons. God the father, according to the concept, is the God of the Old Testament, popularly represented in Christian art as an old man with a long beard. Michaelangelo's creation of Adam on the Sistine Chapel shows Him that way. God the Son, is Jesus. But according to the belief, the person Jesus existed with God not only before he was born, but before creation itself! God, the father was speaking to God, the son when he created man(kind) in Genesis 1:26; "Let us create man in our image". God the Holy Ghost, is the inspirational part of God that helped the scripture writers 'get it right' so the Bible can be percieved as a perfect form of divine communication and instruction. If so many imperfect men transcribed and re-translated the Bible, how can we trust that it truly is the "Word of God"? Only if God, in the person of the Holy Spirit was there every step of the way.
The same Holy Ghost is represented in Renaissance art as a dove. There is the phrase on a couple of gospels that after Jesus gets baptised by John (the Baptist) the Holy Spirit descends on Jesus, and God's voice proclaims, "This is my son" - - - - - -
Now the concept of a godly trinity is really interesting in Hinduism, but that's another question.

This refers to the Holy Trinity or Godhead which consists of three divine persons yet so closely united that they are one God, this is a great mystery for us finite beings to fully comprehend but if you imagine a single plant that has three leaves on one stalk it may help.
