I like Psalm, Proverbs, John, and Isaiah just to name a few.
There is a verse in Jeremiah 29:11 that I really love.
So what are some of your favorite Books in the Bible and some verses?

1Thessalonians, as it talks about the return of Jesus for the rapture, and the book of Revelation, as it talks about the end of times, and Psalms are really nice and also I like to read Proverbs, as they tell the truth. Matthew has some very beautiful words from Jesus also, and John is really good too, as it tells us about being born again.

My favourites change with time except that I like John's Gospel best of all.

I advise new or would-be Christians to read John, then Acts, then Ephesians, then I and II John.

Then (no particular order) Genesis, Psalms (not all at once!), Luke, Galatians, Colossians, Philippians, Revelation.

Esther is a fascinating and different little book.

Can you be a Christian atheist? I'm an atheist who sees value in the Christian tradition I was brought up in.

From the Old Testament I'd nominate Ecclesiastes.

From the New, I've always loved 1 Corinthians 13. The whole chapter, which is one of the most beautiful pieces of writing ever. [Paul's word "agape", translated as "charity" in the the early 17th century KJV is best understood as "compassion" in 21st century English]. It is the profoundest text in the whole Bible, and would have done the Buddha proud.

And I love the Gospel of Matthew, both for what it tells of the teaching of Jesus, and what it tells of the tradition trying to make sense of that teaching.

Agape is a very good thing in anyone's language! *wags tail*
