That's actually very good for your cat! Cats typically don't drink enough water and rely heavily on their sources of food to keep themselves hydrated, so many domestic cats go into renal failure later on in life because of this. [I wish I knew this when my cat was young--we've been battling renal failure for nearly a year now.]

Feeding wet food is a great way to make sure he or she gets enough water!

Individual cats are as unique about their food preferences as individual people, and there is nothing wrong wiith putting some wet food in with the dry. In fact, moistening the dry food is actually good for your kitty to the extent that it adds more moisture to her diet. Cats' Achilles heel is their kidneys, and the more water you can get into your cat's diet the better, as it flushes their kidneys. You may want to consider moistening the dry food with water or a little meat juice (as a treat) or a raw egg yolk (but never the white).

Just remember that dry food, once moistened, gets rancid much quicker, so don't put down a big bowl of crunchies and plop some moistener and then leave it down for longer than a few hours, especially in hot weather.

A cat fed on dry food should always have an ample supply of water. Mixing dry and wet food will provide some of the moisture.

Also, it might be an idea to have your cat's gums and teeth checked to make sure there is no problem there that may be preventing him/her from eating dry food on its own.
