Science in the bible?
Let me just give you some prophecies that were given in the bible about scientifc facts we know today, long before those facts were known(all 66 books in the bible were written between 2000 & 4000 years ago).
1)The earth floats free in space(Job 26:7)---Job was written 4000 years ago. No one knew this fact 4000 years ago.
2)Creation is made of particle, indiscernible to our eyes(atoms, molecules, electrons,.......)(Hebrews 11:3)--- Not until the 19th century was that known.
3)There are mountains on the bottom of the ocean(Jonah 2:5,6)---This was discovered in the last century.
4)Blood is the source of life and health(Leviticus 17:11,14)---Up until 120 years ago, sick people were "bled" and many died as a result(e.g. George Washington). Today we know that healthy blood is necessary to bring life giving nutrients to every cell in the body. God declared that "the life of the flesh is in the blood" long before science understood it's function.
5)Our bodies are made of the dust of the ground(Genesis 2:7;3:19)----Scientists have discovered that the human body is comprised of 28 trace elements, all of which are found in the earth.
6) The universe had a beginning(Genesis 1:1; Hebrews 1:10-12)---Starting with the studies of Albert Einstein in the early 1900's, science has confirmed the biblical view that the universe had a beginning. When the bible was written most people believed that the universe was eternal. Science has proven them wrong but the bible was correct.
7) The earth is a sphere(Isaiah 40:22)---At the time when many thought the earth was flat, the bible told us that the earth is spherical. Incidently, for those who call christians 'flat earthers', that verse is 2700 years old.
8)Scripture assumes a revolving spherical earth(Luke 17:34-36)----Jesus said that at his return some would be asleep at night while others would be working at daytime activities in the field. This is a clear indication of a revolving earth with day and night occurring simultaneously.
9)Light can be divided(Job 38:24)---Sir Isaac Newton studied light and discovered that white light is made of 7 colors, which can be parted and then recombined. Science confirmed this 400 years ago, The Bible declared this 4000 years ago.
10)The continents were created as one large land mass(Genesis 1:9,10)---Many geologists agree that the earth was originally one super continent.
11)Hydrological cycle described(Job 36:27,28)---About4000 years ago the bible declared that God "draws up drops of water which distills as rain from the mist which the clouds drop down and pour abundantly on man". The ancients observed mighty rivers flowing into the ocean, but they could not conceive why the sea level never rose.. Though they observed rainfall they had only quaint theories as to it's origin. Meteorologists now understand that the hydrological cycle consists of evaporation, atmospheric transportation, distillation and precipitation.
12)Circumcision on the 8th day is ideal(Genesis 17:12)---Medical science has discovered that the blood clotting chemical Prothrombin peaks in a newborn on the 8th day. This is therefore, the safest day to circumcise a baby. If you do it before that he'll bleed to death. How did Moses know that?
13)The universe is expanding(Job9:8,Isaiah42:5,Je... 51:15,Zechariah12:1 and other verses)---Seventeen times in the Old Testament it says that "God is stretching the heavens". During the 20th century most scientists(including Einstein) believed the universe was static. Others believed it should have collapsed due to gravity. Then in 1929 astronomer Edwin Hubble showed distant galaxies were receding from the earth and the further away they were, the faster they were moving. This discovery revolutionized the field of astronomy. Einstein admitted his mistake and today most astronomers agree with what the creator told us thousands of years ago--the universe is expanding.
14)Light travels in a path(Job 38:19)--- Light is said to have a "way"{Hebrew:derek, literally a traveled path or road]. Until the 17th century it was believed that light was transmitted instantaneously. We now know that light is a form of energy that travel at 186,000 miles per second in a straight line. Indeed, there is a way of light.
15)Air has weight(Job 28:25)--- It was once thought that air was weightless. Yet 4000 years ago Job declared that God established "a weight for the wind".
16)Ocean currents anticipated(Psalms 8:8)----About 3000 years ago the bible describles the "paths of the sea". In the 19th century Mathew Maury...the father of oceanography, after reading Psalms chapter 8, researched and discovered ocean currents that follow specific paths through the seas.
I could go on and on but it's late. I've got to go to sleep.
Contrary to all the jibberish you hear in todays secular humanist public schools about how we used to believe a lot of myths in the bible and then science came along and proved the bible wrong.....on the contrary, the bible was way ahead of science. Even though the bible is not a scientific book, when it does speak on science it is accurate. To quote Robert Jastrow:
"This is an exceedingly strange development, unexpected by all but the theologians. They have always accepted the word of the Bible: In the beginning God created heaven and earth... [But] for the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; [and] as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries."
- Robert Jastrow

Old Testament prophecies about Christs 1st coming
Forget the prophecies that are coming true today. I'd just like to see them explain prophecies in the old testament(all written anywheres between 400 and 2000 years before Christ was born) about Christ in His 1st coming:
1)The birthplace of Christ written 700 years before He was born.
Micah 5:2 says "But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity."
The prophecy says the Messiah would come out of Bethlehem Ephrathat. There was 2 Bethlehem's in Christs' day Bethlehem Ephrathat and Bethlehem Zebulon. They were both small relatively unknown villages. Yet the prophet Micah distinguishes between them 700 years before Christ was born.
2)The Messiah would be born of a virgin(also written about 700 years before Christ was born).
Isaiah 7:14 says "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel(which means God with us).
3)Two prophecies about John the Baptist as the forerunner of the Messiah(the one who comes before the Messiah to announce the coming of the Messiah):
a)Isaiah 40:3(about 700 years before Christ) says "A voice is calling, Clear the way for the LORD in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God".
b)Malachi 3:1(about 400 years before Christ) says "Behold, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming, says the LORD of hosts".
4)Jesus's official declaration that He was the Messiah on the original Palm Sunday(a week before He was crucified).
Zechariah 9:9(500-700 years before Christ was born) says "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey".
5)Judas's betrayal of Jesus:
Psalms 41:9(1000 years before Christ was born) says "Even my close friend, in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me".
6)Christ betrayed for 30 pieces of silver:
Zechariah 11:12(500-700 years before Christ) says "And I said to them, If it is good in your sight, give me my wages; but if not, never mind! So they weighed out thirty shekels of silver as my wages".
7)Judas would feel guilty and throw the 30 pieces of silver back at the priests in the temple and the priests would take the money and go out and buy a potters field.
Zechariah 11:13 says "Then the LORD said to me, Throw it to the potter, that magnificent price at which I was valued by them. So I took the thirty shekels of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the LORD".
8)When Jesus was being tried in the Jewish and Roman courts, he would not complain:
Isaiah 53:7 says "He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth".
9)The scourging of Jesus for our sins and for our spiritual healing:
Isaiah 53:5 says " But He was pierced through for our transgressions(sins), He was crushed for our iniquities(sins); The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed".
10)He would be brutally disfigured in this crucifiction:
Isaiah 52:14 says "Just as many were astonished at you, My people, So His appearance was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men".
11)He bore our griefs and sorrows on the cross and yet most of the people there didn't understand it. They just thought He was another common criminal:
Isaiah 53:4 says "Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted".
12)He paid for our sins:
Isaiah 53:6 says "All of us like sheep have gone astray(we've all sinned), Each of us has turned to his own way(we've sinned willfully); But the LORD has caused the iniquity(sins) of us all To fall on Him".
13)He died paying the price of the penalty of sin that was due us:
Isaiah 53:8 says "By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the living(killed), For the transgression(sins) of my people to whom the stroke was due?
14)He was crucified between 2 thieves and yet He was buried in a rich mans tomb:
Isaiah 53:9 says "His grave was assigned with wicked men(in other words, He was crucified as a common thief and He should have been buried as a common thief but He wasn't), Yet He was with a rich man in His death(He was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimethia, a rich Pharasee), Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.
15)He was a guilt offering which, in the Old Testament, was an offering(lamb slaughtered) for someones sins:
Isaiah 53:10 says "But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand".
16)Through His sacrifice on the cross many will be declared justified and righteous by God:
Isaiah 53:11 says "As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities(sins)".
17)He bore the sins of the world and prayed for the very people who crucified Him:
Isaiah 53:12 says "Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded(prayed) for the transgressors".
At that point in time God looked upon Christ as just another sinner like all the people who were standing at the foot of the cross because He was bearing their sins and those of all the rest of the world and ours too. Yet He prayed for those very people in His last moments when He said "Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing"(Luke 23:34).
18) The soldiers would cast lots for His clothes:
Psalms 22:18(1000 years before Christ was born) says "They divide my garments among them, And for my clothing they cast lots".
19)Predicted what Christ would say on the cross during that short time on the cross where He was forsaken by God:
Psalms 22:1 says "My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me"?
20) Predicted that they would drive nails into His hands and his feet but they didn't break any of His bones:
Psalms 22:16,17 says "A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.
I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me".
21)The Messiah would rise from the dead:
Psalms 16:9,10 says "Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,
because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay"(in other words, the normal body decay when one dies).
Let me leave you with one last verse in the Old Testament also written 1000 years before Christ was born:
Psalms 2:7,11,12 says "I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, ‘Thou art MY SON, Today I have BEGOTTEN Thee(as in ONLY BEGOTTEN SON[John3:16]).
Worship the LORD with reverence, And rejoice with trembling.
Do homage to THE SON, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him(THE SON)!
Prophecy about Jerusalem being burdensom stone to the world
Five hundred years before Christ was born(2500 years ago), in about 520BC, the Old Testament prophet Zechariah said this about jerusalem concerning events that were to take place some day in the future..... "I will make Jerusalem and Judah like an intoxicating drink to all the nearby nations that send their armies to besiege Jerusalem. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone, a burden for the world. None of the nations who try to lift it will escape unscathed"(Zechariah 12:2,3).
We must put this in perspective. This was in 520BC just after the Babylonians had conquered Jerusalem and had destroyed it. The whole city lay in ashes and rubble. Jerusalem never was among the biggest cities in the world but now it was deserted and filled with burnt rocks. Even in it’s heyday, Jerusalem never had any of the characteristics that make a city important and great. It is not a seaport. It does not have any major rivers or waterways. It was not on any trade routes. It didn’t have any natural resources. True, it is today a Holy city to 3 major religions. But that was 500 years before christianity and 1100 years before Islam. Yet the prophet said that some day this city would be a burden to the whole world. Well, we've arrived. Ask any Islamic terrorist why they're fighting and they will tell you that they want an end to the state of Isreal because Jerusalem is the 3rd holiest city in the Islamic faith. How could that prophet have known that. Only one way. He was getting his info from God. The Bible is the word of God.

Well the theme of the whole bible is to teach us how we should live our daily lives and that we should want to teach others about the Bible and get the world Saved before Jesus. It said in the bible,in Matt 28:19 Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Ghost. .
Hope this help you in some way and that it will make you grow in the Lord. good luck and God bless you in your studies.

Well glad to see you enjoy it so much. I'm still in the process of learning each day. I recently took a bible and western culture course to learn more about the effects of the bible on americans. Really it was just a rundown of the new testament. But the most fascinating misconception that was put to rest was the idea of the afterlife. I always thought that when we died that our spirits would go to heaven. However, i've learned that resurrection is actual physical and spiritual. So, when we die and go to heaven, our bodies will be remade to go along with our spirits. I thought that was very interesting.

You will also enjoy a lot Buddhas teachings, there is nothing against the teachings of Jesus, so why not open your mind and understand why the half of the world is interested in the wisdom of the Buddha.
Enjoy both teachings, in freedom.

It's a wonderful and enlightening thing. You get to see new truths, and are enlightened by the Spirit. Here are some of the things that I can share with you right now.
The Trinity: God (the Father), Jesus (the Son), the Holy Spirit
All of which reign over us.
Sin: We have sinned and thus, are unable to enter the kingdom of God. Sin is separation or alienation from God.
-God did not want this because He loved us so much.
>He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to save us from our sins so that we will be able to enter the kingdom of heaven.
.:: Jesus suffered very much just for us, but He did not back out from His mission. Proof that He loves us so much that He would not want us to go to hell.
Hell- eternal death in a place of sheer torture
Now, it is not enough to know that God loves us so much. It is not enough that we believe it, but we must accept it. We must accept Jesus' free gift of salvation in order that we must be saved.
We need to acknowledge that we are sinners and that we cannot go to heaven without Him. If you want to accept Jesus Christ, and have a personal relationship with Him, pray this simple prayer:
Dear Lord,
I know that I have sinned am not worthy to spend eternity with You. But Lord, I want you to come into my heart, and cleanse me. Purify me from all of my sins, and help me change for the better.
Amen.
It's not that hard. You must remember that you will NOT change overnight. Maturing in faith is a lifetime process. You need to grow. How? Read the Bible, be involved in church and in ministries. Obey God, Read His Word, Share Him with the people around you. God bless.

christianity is unique among all other faiths, because christianity is more about a relationship, rather than religious practice. instead of adhering to a list of “dos and don’ts,” the goal of a christian is to cultivate a close walk with God the father. that relationship is made possible because of the work of Jesus Christ, and the ministry in the life of the christian by the holy spirit.

God bless you for starting your journey. As you know we are all sinners, everysingle one of us. me included, as I have a list of sins so high it reaches Gods's throne almost. Jesus I believe and love Jesus with all of my heart and Jesus is the only one that keeps me going. Jesus has appeard toe me in 2005 in June in a night vision, and Jesus also had a very tall angel standing right next to him. The face on Jesus is gergous, he is so precious. Christianity is not a religion. Religion is man made. Christianity is all aobut repentance, forgiving other people and having a relationship with the one who died for us, Jesus, so we can come into a true real relationship with the living God. Yes is it a challenge being a christian as we still struggle with sin, whether great or small. I was baptised in 2005 in May. Being baptised is a public declaration to people that you are not ashamed of Jesus and that you love him and you believe he died for you and that you have eternal life through Jesus. Amen to that. In God's world is says that to cast everything on God becasue he cares for you. Lay every burden down to him. Include God in everything you do, even little things like mowing the lawn, or doing the shopping.I will give you an example. My mother who is diebetic, and has lost all her feelings on her left hand side of her body, should not be driving her car anywhere, because all it will take is one slip of the brake and she could cause an accident or kill herself. Anyway she drives, but no more than 20 minutes on the road, but before she takes of, she askes God to be her hands and feet, and to help her. God answers that, and she has not had one accident since. It goes to show that when you take everything to God, even though you many not get an answer straight away, trust God that he will be faithful to you and not set you down. Anyway God bless you, and welcome to the family of God. Find a church that is Spirit filled, and ask Jesus to forgive your sins and to come and live on the inside of you by his spirit, and at death, you will pass from death into life. Apostile Paul said "Absent from the body is present with the Lord" God bless you abundantly.

Yes. It's a waste of your time.
Don't just read about Christianity; if you're interested in religion, read about all kinds of religions, ask intelligent questions, and come to a decision based on the logical answers. Don't just "accept" everything about one religion.
I'm afraid Christianity asks you to to accept an awful lot of unlikely things, and it drives me crazy to see people never asking why, just following like sheep.
