if it has feathers, its probably a fledgling, which means it jumped out of its nest and its parents watch from a distance for a day or two until it learns how to fly.
in that case, you need to return it to where you found it immediately.
baby birds are hard to look after and need feeding every 2-4 hours with a syringe - get some advice from your local wildlife rescue organisation.

If it is a dove, it would probably be getting liquid food from its parents. The easiest thing to do is to feed it the powdered baby parrot formula called Exact. You can get it at any pet store and just prepare it like it says on the package. A lot of times, a syringe will feel unnatural to a dove. Most baby birds get food when the mother places in their throats, but dove and pigeon chicks insert their beak into the parent's mouth and drink the food that gets thrown up. One of the best ways to feed a dove or pigeon is to get a paper dixie cup and poke a hole in the side with a pencil just big enough for the beak to fit through. After you prepare the Exact formula, pour it into the dixie cup up to the hole, and put the baby bird's beak into the hole. Tip the cup so that the formula flows over it's mouth and it can drink. The baby should instantly respond and start guzzling it down. When the chick stops bobbing and begging for food, take it's beak out of the cup and wash the beak off so that it doesn't inhale any of the food. Then, wash any food that is stuck to the chick's face and neck before it gets hard and crusty. The baby will probably want to be hand-fed until it's about 6 or 8 weeks old, and it will start to poke at seeds and maybe eat a few. Keep hand feeding it until it can eat enough seeds on its own and no longer begs for formula.

If it doesn't eat on its own yet, you must feed it with a syringe, without the needle. Fill the syringe with baby cream or soak and mash kitten dry food and put that into the syringe, and then open the bird's beak and put about 2 ml of food from the syringe deep in his mouth. Careful, don't choke it, but you need to put the food deep in the mouth, not just in his beak. Also drop a few drops of water on his nostrils with a wet cotton or an eyedropper, the nostrils communicate with the beak, and you'll see him drink it, but don't feed anything other than water through the nostrils, you don't want to block them.
Feed him like every 2 hours, and once he gets older, start offering him bird seeds or wheat. No rice. Once it is able to feed on its own and fly well, not just fly around, but really take height, you can let it go.
PS. Don't set it free now, perhaps it's too young to feed on its own. But it is best to contact a wildlife rescue centre near you and ask them to take care of it.
Oh, and don't put it in a cage where it can see you pass around, because that causes too much stress to the bird, put it in a big cardboard box with holes, put newspaper at the bottom that you can change for cleaning, and cover the box with a wire mesh, like a fridge shelf or something.

First call an exotic vet in your area and they will give you advice or a number to a avian rescue place in your area. If you just don't want to bother w/that then go to the pet store and get bird weaning diet. It will make a gruel that you will probably have to syringe feed every 2-4 hours depending on age. Birds are very sensitive and can die just from stress or human touch so keep that in mind before you try to raise a wild bird with no experiance. Good luck

How do you know it was abandoned?? Birds leave the nest before they are able to fly and the parents tend to them until they can...this is a normal learning process. If the bird is fully feathered...if this is the case..the adults could be looking for their chick right now. You need to replace it where you found it if it has not been long since you removed it. If not feathered...I would suggest getting the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.

If you found a wild baby bird, the best thing you can do for it is to take it to the Wildlife Rescue Center. They are very kind and they will raise and feed it until it is old enough to live in the wild on it's own.

you may desire to pass to the puppy keep and %. up some toddler poultry formulation. Kaytee top is a robust style. you combine it with water and feed with a syringe or eye dropper. At 21 days, the little ones will quickly be waiting to start up ingesting small seed, like finch or canary seed. you could go away a number of this around the cage/everywhere you're retaining the pigeons and notice in the event that they %. at them.

Birds at this age are still used to being fed by mom and dad. I saved a baby robin once, and my grandma helped me with it. we fed it tiny bits of fresh, raw, ground hamburger with a tiny pair of tweezers. I think it's because the ground hamburger looks like worms that mama bird would be bringing back, and it's full of protein. And of course, the tweezers look like a beak so it's as close to nature as you can provide.
Also be sure to keep him warm and safe. maybe put a small stuffed toy in there to give him someone to snuggle up against being that he doesn't have other baby birds or parents to do that.
Good luck :)
