I dont want reasons why Ali won and am not belittling his victory, but was wondering if there was any other evidence for poisoning? Who would gain from Ali's Victory and was there any organised crime connections?

I disagree with the sour grapes statement. Foreman actually said in an ESPN interview years ago that he felt it was possible that he was drugged. This is just the first time he has said it sternly and as something he believes to be a fact. Foreman himself said "Ali didn't need any medicine in the water to whip me. If I would have fought him 20 times with organic water he would have beaten me. He had the style to beat me". That is a quote, Foreman is anything but a sore loser. Its just something that he believes to be true, whats wrong with that? But to answer who gained...Promoters (mainly King) and the sport of boxing itself stood to gain from an Ali victory. Ali was the much more popular fighter, the world over. Practically the entire country of Africa itself was behind Ali, which lead to the known threats to Foreman while in Zaire. Not saying this is what happened, but as I stated in a similar question I asked earlier.....I do believe its possible that Foreman was drugged, but I do not believe it takes anything away from Ali's victory

There is NO evidence to support Foreman's contention that he was drugged. And the fight itself suggests otherwise.

Foreman was known for his lack of stamina, but he fought an aggressive fight and simply wore himself out.

Foreman's problem in the Zaire fight was the fans, who overwhelmingly favored Ali, and the government, which refused to allow Foreman to leave the country when he was cut in training. There is no question that Foreman was trapped in a hostile environment, but there is no evidence that organized crime was involved in the outcome.

Sam H pretty much summed it up, plus Foreman is selling a book now and as we all know he is a great salesman. And the mob thing dont swing either unless they were cutting Don King in on it which i dont see happening.

Only people who I think would gain anything would be the promoters.
