Make eye contact with her. Engage her in conversation. Tell her, "there is something I have wanted to ask you since I first met you," then when you have her attention, tell her, "would you please come to the year-end formal with me?"
Chances are she will say yes.

You go up to her and start a conversation and if she seems interested in what you have to say, you ask her if she has a date for the end of year formal, if she says no then you say " Although we just met, I really think you are a wonderful person, would you like to go with me to the end of year formal? Because I cant think of anyone I would rather take.

Just go ask her if she would like to go with you. The worst she can say is no and if she says yes that is cool. Why stand around and wonder about it go ask her. If she says no you may still have time to ask someone else.

Well, do you know how to start a conversation? Can you just be natural and "visit" with her some and then eventually, ask her out........it's easy.
