Yes, a quick smack makes a child behave much more quickly than ..."Now, now, Darling, having a tantrum in the middle of Tesco's isn't nice, is it, Mummy doesn't want you to do that, will we have to visit the naughty step when we get home, won't we??"
No wonder there are so many more misbehaved children nowadays than say 20 years ago.

depends on the actions and the words.
some words do not translate well into actions. think of when someone you admire says "I'm proud of you."
and when a baby first says "mama" does the mother's heart melt because the baby is speaking or because of what the baby is saying?

Yes! People pay way more attention to facial expressions or unspoken gestures, etc... than they do to what they are told.
Also, as far as a work situation goes, you are far more likely to repeat an activity than you have seen as opposed to what you have been told.
And, when it comes to children , they will repeat anything, said or done, but they will repeat activities more than words.

How about two sayings?
The pen is mightier than the sword
and
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me
Compare and contrast.

if you say you are smart and didn't act it, wouldn't it be hard to believe;
but if you were smart and let people see for them selves, grades, intelect, speach, people would notice a lot faser
I agree with that saying.. it is also in the Bible and it has to be true
