It certainly doesn't attract all girls; but why would someone who drives a Mercedes garner more attention for girls than someone who drives a Corolla?
Is the answer really as simple as "because the guy with the Mercedes has more money" or is it more complicated because you can say the guy with the Merc has more class and taste?

When u quote it that way then the obvious reason is : 1 the girl is hardcore into glamour , reputation and status in the society she smells and digs money money money period. 2 if the girl really looks at the mercedes with admiration then it's coz she likes the machine and the beauty of Mercedes....I love Mercedes benz but I like the looks and states it to be a mature persons car not a person whoz young and sportsy....lol so the 1st girl is into money and the 2nd girl is into looks and maybe in general laid back and mature. Of course Mercedes is a old car and we all know how much expensive that car is so also we know people who have a certain status drive it for simple reason to flaunt off their status and assets.
The Guy with the merc certainly is showing hez mature and stable his taste in Merc says that hez the boss and not a kid anymore. CAN U IMAGINE A 18 YR OLD GOING IN A MERC I can't lol coz a young guy / gal wud like to flaunt off the fast sexy cars and ones which are convertibles will be more to their liking. So yeah the car does relate ur personality which in turn tell u bout a mans taste or status. I wud say maybe the guy driving a mercedes drives a sports car on the weekends coz he may still be young at heart. But the difference will be the extent of his usage.

Well I used to like to believe that women could not be that shallow, but then one day I found incontrovertible proof to the contrary. I am not a sexy man by any means, I am tall but have a gut muscular but not sexy muscular, just a strong working mans build. I drive a 96 dodge intrepid, with fading blue paint. Its a good car, and I like it but I have never had a woman express interest in me while I was driving it or standing near it. Now here is the proof that women like nice new sexy vehicles. I had just started a job at a cement company and one of my many responsibilities was to fill the bosses brand new shiny black 2007 ford F150 pickup up with fuel whenever it was required. Now mind you it was 8:30 in the a.m. I went to the nearby gas station and began to fill the truck up when a very comely looking female employee pulled into the parking lot. Well needless to say that I have never gotten such a reaction from a woman before. She jumps out of her car and waves and says hiiiii real sexy like and gives me the nicest smile I have ever gotten from a woman that I hadnt just satisfied sexually. I was totally shocked at this reaction and it kind of made me dizzy as I am not used to this sort of interaction with the opposite sex. I thought damn I must be looking good this morning. Well a few minutes later I had finished fueling the bosses pickup and went in to pay for the gas. And she was the cashier, well she was really nice to me until she realized that it was not my pick up. Talking to me and flirting and all, but then I said that I needed to charge the gas to my company and that the pickup was my bosses, after that she wouldn't even look at me. Now tell me that is not proof that women are attracted to guys that drive sexy vehicles. Consequently every other time that I drove his truck I always had chicks being nice to me for no other apparent reason than the vehicle that I was driving.

you are correct it is the money thing. The more expensive the car, the hotter girl you can get. This is why you see rich, not so attractive, guys with super hot chicks. Also the car kinda says something about a guy's personality. Muscle cars that are in great condition with sick engines will draw chicks that like the "bad boy" type, the mercedes attract the girls that likes the rich type.

I'd like to think its not the car its what the car represents. A guy in a Mercedes is likely to have a good job meaning possibly meaning he is well educated, smart and a hard worker. Girls don't discount the guy in the Corolla though, he's practical and less likely to be a materialistic jerk.

Success! It gives the "appearance" of success. Not always a true indication. However, people often place a lot of importance on what they and others drive. Tell me... what would make you "look twice?" A shiny red Corrola or a shiny red Ferrari? I can remember one day several years ago in my smallish hometown of about 55,000 population.... seeing a great-looking Mercedes limo-size car drive by. It caught my eye as I had never seen one like that ever before! I quickly turned around and sped up to get behind him just about the time he reached his destination. Don't know if it was his home or not... it was a single wide trailer in a trailer court. Nowadays what you "see" is often not what you get. Appearances are deceiving nowadays with all of the credit that is available. Yes, the Mercedes is a "symbol" of class and taste... but ability to buy it does not mean that you are able to buy the "class and status" right along with the purchase of the Mercedes. You have to "earn" class and status. You can however have good "taste" in knowing that a Mercedes or BMW are cars for people of good "taste."

I don't think this is really true...i think most guys with nice cars are usually jerks or have a horrible personality. (Not all, but it sure seems like it) I think its more about the person in the car...not the car itself, but thats just how I feel.
If i HAD to pick, my guy would be in a truck :)

It's true, most girls will get with the guy with the nice ride because they see nothing but $$$$. And those are only the shallow,materialistic, gold-diggers. All females are not like that. Most of the good women know that money don't make the man.

The answer is simplified down to "the guy with teh Mercedes has more money"
But
"The guy with the mercedes" is percieved to have more class, more money, and most importantly biologically to a breeding female he seems to be financially stable and able to thusly support and raise a child.
Don't underestimate how important that last little bit there was. It is hard coded into our DNA and it's almost impossible to get around that.
