I have many conflicting thoughts and just cannot decide. On one hand, I don't want to got o Iraq, but I honestly don't care that much... it's a risk I am willing to take. I want to join the reserves FOR SURE. So I can't decide between the Air Force, navy, or Coast guard.
CG so far hasn't offered me a job I want. I scored a 61 on my ASVABS and the best the can offer me now is Boastman Mate.
The Navy recruiter is offering me Intelligience... which I use to think I want to do. I don't know if I want to do it anymore... and I don't know why. I am leery about it ebcause I don't want to be on a boat if I get called to Active Duty.
The Air Force, from what I hear, is treated better. I love to travel, and it doesn't see much different from the Navy. The position I'm being offered is Aircrew Life Support... but if I decided to go with the Air Force I would wait for another job.
Basically, I need help deciding between the branches. Which is best, pros and cons, I would like detailed thoughts

I want to go with what would be best for me if I decide to enlist as a officer (hopefully) after I achieve four years of college in my degree (right now, International Relations.)
So, what branch would be best? What offeres better civilian careers training, or plain, what branch is the best?
I have heard that the Navy IS (Intelligience Specialist) reserves just go once a month and study how to do it, and it's very boring. Makes sense to have to study for it though.
I feel like the Air Force is better for me, btu I just do not know what to do.
I don't know what I would be thinking, btu the Navy guy is pressuring me to join and the Air FOrce guy isn't, he is really relaxed... but I am just feeling alot of pressure from the Navy, and I can't tell if that's scaring me off or I just think Air Force is best for me.
And, I am not super active, or, in top physical condition.

And, finally, if I choose a branch (right now leaning towards Air Force, but no definate yes or not) should I WAIT until I get a job they can guarantee me that I would enjoy. I don't know how much I would enjoy Air Crew Life Support... should I wait for an opening I would enjoy? My recruiter says it's just 6 years, and once a month, and when I join active duty I can get cross training into another field. how likely is that? I would hope I join active as an officer...

I'd retake the ASVAB. The recruiters would probably be the best source of information for you, since that is your job. Don't enlist and take a job doing something you won't enjoy, because then you're stuck. You can buy a book to practice for the ASVAB. The max score you can possibly acheive is a 99. In my opinion, the Air Force is awesome.....don't go with a branch if they are being too pushy and making you uncomfortable.

What branch has air conditioned tents in the field? Air Force. Yes, their tents have a little section off to side where the AC unit goes. And this is for all tents, not just ones that have any special gear inside like a TOC or commo tent. What branch has [rumor has it] the best food? The Navy on ship.
If it boils down to safest: It's gotta be the Navy in the modern threat world. About the only other power that could pretend to be a threat on the seas to the US Navy is the Chinese Navy.. And, for right now at least, they're still playing nice with us. Even if you're in the Air Force and not a pilot, you stand a chance to be deployed inside a combat theater.
As far as living conditions go, Air Force is best.
If it is simply getting the job you want, well that is always up to the needs of the DoD, not you, no matter what you think you have in writing. Plus, whatever job you end up with, there is always SOME chance of changing. Sometimes it's a good chance, sometimes it's only a slight possibility.
In any case, thanks for signing the dotted line and good luck.

AIR FORCE...treated better? That is a vast understatement. Do yourself a favor and don't look anywhere else. AF has the shortest deployments, the best accomodations, and the greatest variety of jobs that have direct civilian equivalents should you decide to take your skills outside the service. You should definitely get your degree first if you can afford it, although officers get transferred more often than enlisted. The pay is far better, though. ASK anyone BUT a recruiter - go to your nearest active duty, guard, or reserve base and they will confirm it for you. I'm not a recruiter, but after 20 years of service, I'm not blowing smoke either.

I would go in the Air force. At least you won't be on a ship at sea for 6 months or more at a time! Not that ALL are!
You want to be a swabey or a Deck Ape (Dangerous job)?
There are pro and cons to each. Depends on what you want to do, though the Army and Marines you are more likely to come home in a body bag!
If you are smart, the other services offer good training that can be used on the outside. Not much call for 11B on the outside!

Listen, every branch has the same mos's for the most part, join the branch that you see yourself loving. When I enlisted, I went under open contract (needs of the service) I too scored in the 60's on the asvab. If you don't love it the mos won't matter

you only scored a 61 on the asvabs and your thinking officer. i scored a 118 back in 86. they were pushing me for officer i wish i had though. now the intel part. did you take the delab test? if not i really dont think they are interested in you. my recruiter push the delab test on me and i wish intel would have been my primary mos. i did army for 7 years wish i went marines. airforce is pretty soft from what i understand. good luck just go with your heart. it all sucks for training. but then i was on tank hill at ft jackson for basic. and i heard it isnt there anymore and the way they train went pretty soft.

Air Force. Ive always heard its the best branch. My husband was in the Navy and they treated him like crap. And I know alot of people who were in the Navy and couldnt wait to get out. Coast Guard is pretty cool, too.

No branch of the military "offers you a job" if you want a job you go out and get it. see the requirments for it (ie; ASVAB score) and study to get the score that YOU NEED to do that job.

Boatswain mate sucks and so does Intelligence specialist Aircrew Life Support should be fun if you're in excellent physical shape otherwise you're gonna suffer in their training.
