They are no different because both of them reject Jesus as the Son of God. I have a message for atheists in this section though. You won't find God because you are looking in the wrong place.
I feel I must give the lie to anyone who says, "I'm looking for God, but I can't find God!" Let that person try to do everything in the truth, free from the demon of pride and the suffocating density of egoism. Let every trace of racism be rooted out, let everyone be welcomed as a brother or sister, and you will see … you will see!
Live love. Act truth. Honor life. And it will be the God beyond you whom you live, act and honor. God will not come to you because you have become "good." God was already there. God has always been coming and always is coming. But now you see God because you have purified your eyes, softened your heart and stooped down.
Remember, God was always there … the only difficulty was that you were unable to see. Now you identify love and light and life more and more with God. You see God even if God is still veiled and expressed in the mysterious parable of created things.
Peace and blessings!

It's sad what this little fight between the atheists and the Christians has come to.
I say, although atheist myself, the atheists making fun of Jesus. One can make fun of religion; because religion is 'governed' by man and thus adultrated from whatever message came from God in the first place. But making fun of someone who went through that much pain, even if he never existed, is just sad.
Atheists: Stop being babies. You're not going to get anyone to stop believeing in God.
Christians: Sorry. Lighten up. Ignore the flies, and they will go away. Meanwhile, don't spur them on by retaliation. (Oh, and you won't convert anyone through Yahoo! answers, either).

you god believers really like that false dichotomy sort of question don't you?
I realize you live your life under the delusion that a Jewish carpenter claimed to be a god 2000 years ago. Even though I don't happen to think he even existed in the first place, I do know for a fact, if he did, he was just an ordinary, equally deluded, man.
You are a sad little person getting so upset about us making fun of your fictional hero.

Do you have any extra-biblical evidence for the Bible's claim that the Roman soldiers gambled for the robe of Jesus of Nazareth?

Ok, so if I decide to lead a good life, try to make things better, try to make this a better world, live my life with integrity... I'm sorry it has nothing to do with god being there or leading the way. I chose to live my life as I see fit, just as a murder or thief choose to live theirs. Even living a good, honest life, I can honestly say there is still no feeling of a god. God exists for people who want him to or need him to. To make their life feel meaningful and give them hope. And in the end, man invented religion to control people and explain the unexplainable. So yes I can criticize religion as much as you bible thumpers throw religion in my face. I don't make fun but state the obvious and try to have a good debate.

Jesus prayed for the soldiers while He was on the cross. All we can do is pray for the ones that do make fun of Jesus.

That's just hitting below the belt. They don't usually make fun of Jesus... they make fun of 'you'!
