Of course. If you're helping her to feel better about herself, it's very gentlemen like. some women are the ones that go "fishing" for compliments, but if you compliment the right woman, she'll feel so much better about herself, and you'll probably make her whole day. :)

Yes, I do this often. My intent is to cheer her up or make her feel better. But at times it's flirting. Thats the truth of it in my case.

If the compliment is honest then its OK otherwise it will be considered as flattery which is obviously not a gentleman supposed to do.

as long as you are being sincere with the compliment, I believe so. Nothing worse than feeling bummed out then someone telling you something you KNOW isn't true.
