Just find Lactose-free milk (like Lactaid) (I use HEB brand). The flavor will be a bit sweeter, but you get used to it.

You can still eat most cheeses and yogurts. Ice cream gives me problems in large amounts, but not in small amounts.

Just so you know, let me tell you what causes lactose intolerance. When we are born, we have a lot of this enzyme called Lactase that breaks up lactose into smaller sugars. As we age, we lose this enzyme. When that happens, the lactose goes through the intestines without being broken up. It eventually reaches the bacteria that live in your intestine. Now, the bacteria break up the lactose, but as a by-product, they produce gas (and other stuff). This is what causes the massive gas and stomach cramps and diarrhea associated with lactose intolerance.

In cheeses and yogurt, the bacteria present in the food have already broken up the lactose, so your bacteria won't.

(ALSO, watch out and read labels because some foods have lactose added, even if they don't contain any milk products.)

(Also, lactose intolerance is not an allergy. But there are some people who are actually allergic to lactose or have milk allergies.)

I, too, am lactose intolerant. I take a time-release product called Lactose Intolerance Therapy put out by Ganeden Biotech, Inc., made under the Digestive Advantage brand, and taken on a once -daily basis. It is a natural product. Just follow the package directions. Depending on how lactose intolerant you are, after the first two days, you may have to adjust your dosage level. It so far has worked for me, and now I am enjoying all kinds of dairy products in moderation.

in basic terms forget approximately your father and mom and flow to the keep and purchase your self soy milk. while you're lactose illiberal, milk is now no longer an decision yet soy milk is. it does not incorporate any lactose and is dairy loose and soy is seen a 'miracle nutrient' in well-being and getting old. your mum will in all risk take it up too!
