Wouldn't God have had other cultures write of him and their history? And how would other people be able to read the hebrew bible back then if it wasn't just meant for hebrews considering that the languages were mixed up and the people spread out too far.

God spoke to mankind before the Old Testament through His creation and the moral law put into men's heart. Even then, man chose his own ways, and not Gods. God then chose a specific people, the Hebrews, to write His Word; the Old Testament (a shadow of the New) and then the New Testament. The Hebrews went through and are still going through immense persecution for this gift to all mankind, yet many in that nation still don't know and cannot perceive that the Lord Jesus Christ is their long awaited Messiah. As they wait for their Messiah, the Lord has opened the invitation to the whole world to receive Him as King and Lord. He is coming again-- and soon! The global warming is just one sign of His near approach.
There was a legal system put into place in the Old Testament. Man failed again and again to live up to the legal requirements. The Lord God Almighty had predestined and prepared the Way through His Son Jesus Christ, for all humanity to receive forgiveness. No longer was a sacrifice needed through animals, since they were only a representation of the ultimate sacrifice. It was through His Son, this ultimate sacrifice, that ALL of mankind has been has been invited to receive His promises of forgiveness and salvation! He has clearly revealed these promises in the New Testament. A person receives His gift of eternal life, cleansing and new life through faith in His Son and His eternal promises of His Word, the Bible. He has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. It takes the faith of a child to believe His Word, but the rewards are too numerous to count! There is sooooo much more than you will ever believe.....I know. I have experienced His opening of my spiritual eyes to His Son, HIS promises, HIS presence in My life, His blessings, HIS answers to prayer. He is so very real! So very close! There is no other God and Saviour like Him! The Lord says, "Come, taste and see that the Lord is Good!"

That is how God planned for it to be. It all started when Abraham obeyed God explicitly and thus found favor with God. God made a covenant with him and said all nations would be blessed through him and his lineage. This could be seen as a prophetic reference to the fact that Jesus would be born through a Jewish lineage and that as the true Messiah would bring salvation to mankind. As far as the language barrier, Jesus chose 12 people (disciple) to go out and spread the word and establish churches. Paul was also converted and helped spread the gospel to the rest of the world, and by gaining more converts in other lands, the gospel message spread... hope this helps...

God revealed himself to the Hebrews in order for them to be a light to the whole world. How sad that they failed so terribly. Still the knowledge of God was brought before the leaders of great nations when they were taken prisoners. Read for example the book of Daniel.

Yeah, and why didn't the Hebrews put it on CDs so you would actually read it. Or better still, make it into a movie or a documentary by Al Gore. If Al Gore read it to you I bet you would believe. To bad God doesn't have any good spokesmen.

Hey moron, be4 u click that negative vote button, go read the book. Pay especial attention to the part where God chose the Israelites, not "all of humanity" to worship Him.

God didn't write the Old Testament, the Jews did. And even the Jews did not believe that Judaism was the exclusive religion - on the contrary, ancient Judaism discouraged converts. As for the Hebrew Bible, most of it centers on one specific theme, and that same theme is found in many ancient religions (both Semitic and Indo-European).

Right from the days of Adam and Eve, all men were aware of Almighty God [ YHWH / Jehovah]
Right up to the time of the flood of Noah.
Then from Noah and his family, the earth was re-populated.
At some time later the Bible states that men left off worshipping God and did other [ wrong] things.
(Genesis 10:8-9) And Cush became father to Nim′rod. He made the start in becoming a mighty one in the earth. 9 He displayed himself a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah. That is why there is a saying: “Just like Nim′rod a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah.”

But the Jews themselves continued faithful and were given the privilege of recording everything. God knew that given enough time, man would eventually return to him.

Thats a good question.
my reasoning tells me that it's because god had to make a comparison to the rest of the world. by showing that the hebrews lived under the law (when applied), they not only had God's backing and defense against foreign invaders, they lived a higher quality of life.
just my two cents

Scripture teaches the concept of redemptive historical revelation. God created man and woman, who profligrated into many nations. God then chose one nation, who spread the truth, and ultimately the truth was unified in the Savior, whow as then profligrated to the world. God is God, His ways are His. Many non-Jews were saved before Christ, but all salvation comes through the Jewish carpenter's son.
