If your puppy is old enough to bring home, he's old enough to start training. Let him acclimate to his new home and then begin with the basics.

yea as soon as their attention span has increased enough to actually absorb useful information. start doing it now but dont necessarily focus on the actual trick rather holding there attention. It took me a day and a half, two tops to teach my dog how to sit at ten weeks old. he was so wild he needed to learn something to save himself or mom would have got rid of him. Just remember that dogs need to be loved at all times so when he dose something you dont like tell him NO! and put him in a "time out" in the corner on a leash or in his crate covered wit a blanket so he cant see you. Never hit the dog it will make him agrressive towards you. and two never call him to you and then punish him, he wont trust you nor come when u call.

The sooner the better! If you teach them around 4-6 months, they learn a lot quicker. Also, if you're looking to train professionally take them before they're 6 months. They're still considered puppies at 6 months so it's cheaper. Once they're in the adolesent stage i.e. 7-12 months, they're more set in their ways.

You need to start at a young age. It is easyer for the dog and even you! Like the saying "You can't teach a old dog new tricks!" Even though you can. It will be harder! Much!
