Mary, mother of Jesus plays no role in Judaism. Neither does her son Jesus. Judaism recognizes that someday a Messiah will come to redeem the Jewish people and righteous Gentiles, but Jesus was NOT that Messiah. Judaism rejects the notion that his mother Mary would have been a virgin and was not impregnated by a man. Judaism often believes that Christinity is idol worship because of the notion of the divinity of Jesus and Mary.

Here is my own idea to explain the phenomeon of Jesus' birth. This is not sanctioned in my religion and is only speculation on my part. I believe though it is worthy of investigation. At the time of Jesus' birth, Palestine was occupied by the Roman Empire. Stationed there would have been the Roman Legion. A Roman soldier sees a pretty young girl in the village of Nazareth. He either seduces here or perhaps rapes her and she gets pregnant. Her family realize that her life will be in danger once the others in the village become aware that she is pregnant. An older man, Joseph who is a prosperous carpenter agrees to marry her. In spite of this the people believe that she is pregnant out of wedlock and talk is starting to go around. The Jews have always yearned for the coming of the Messiah and under the Roman occupation this yearning was probably strong. As a result Mary's family starts a rumor that she is carrying the Messiah, conceived with the intervention of G-d.

Why are you restricting this queston to Muslims, Jews and Christians? First off, spell it right "Holly" is a botanical term and Marry is to wed. Also, "what does their" is such bad grammar.

My beliefs have no "scripture" ... but I would interpret the symbol of Mary as a part of the maiden/mother/crone trilogy ... but with a high level of advancement at the "mother" stage, and her son Jesus as an advanced spirit who tried to teach the wonders of a concept called "Do unto others" ... or in my terms "harm ye none."

Knew a Holly Marry in 5th grade, she's married with 6 children and another on the way, lives in the Ozark mountains.

mother of Jesus, and highly favored in the sight of God but she was only a regular kind of woman nothing out standing except her faith in the almighty God.

Do you mean Holy Mary? She was the virgin mother of Christ, chosen by God amongst the other maidens because she was pleasing to him. She went against all cultural rules to show the people that there is a higher power by delivering the son of God into the world. Certain denominations put more emphasis on her than they should, she was just an ordinary woman in a male chauvinist society.

Holly Marry? -_-... Do you mean Holy Mary? I don't believe in that stuff. I believe in Jesus, not Mary. Mary was Jesus's mother

Jews don't believe in her.
Muslims believe she's a virgin who got miraculously impregnated. However, to them, she's the mother of Jesus the Prophet, and not the mother of God.
