Rolling Rs came natural to me for some reason even though i don't speak spanish.
i had been practicing learning japanese, which has just a slight trill with the R just like most languages.
i practiced by saying "ra ri ru re ro" as close as i could get to make it sound like D+L, and eventually it came.
then i was able to say "perrrrrrrrfect" like catwoman

Everyone is born with the same capacity to roll r's or do various other language "tricks". Because you grew up in a society that did not have any need for rolled r's, you never got practice at an early age so it's only natural you're going to have major difficulty now, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. It just means you're going to have to keep trying your hardest at it before you can reach that goal.

You should be as much envious as the latinos who can't speak english with a perfect accent....
Of course they would speak spanish perfectly... as you can speak english perfectly.
Try this> open your mouth sightly, then put your tongue behind your superior teeth, touching them (with your tongue) if you want. After doing that exhale air out contracting your stomach... you should have the 'r' rolling sound.
Try practicing words like carro, ferrocarril etc.
Hope this helps

Not at all. You see, for us native Spanish speakers it's also very hard to NOT pronunce the r. And also, you shouldn't let yourself down, you should keep trying... some people use methods than include putting a pencil in your mouth, etc. It depends on your Spanish professor.
Good luck and keep learning! It was quite hard for me to learn English, if that's some consolation.

I learned by practicing purring- helps alot. Listen to cat, the rolling sound and try to produce it with your tongue. put the tongue behind the teeth and slightly above-lightly- and blow some air out, if the touch is light enough, it will happen for you, a little at a time.

Lots of people cant. My sister has a hard time with it to. Just think of a "D" sound when you need to roll your "rr"'s sound. It helps quite a bit.

Practice makes perfect. No Pain no gain..If you listen and imitate you should improve with time. However, I believe that learning any language depends on that particular person's ability to learn a language. It has nothing to do with intelligence unless you have a disability.

The R is roller also in Dutch, Afrikaans, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish. That I know of. I have known some people who simply CAN NOT do it. But I have no idea if you are one of them.

Yes, it is possible to do it. But if you're like me, then you never will... never could get the hang of that part.
