really now. according to every die hard christian out there, there's no greater joy than experiencing god's love. so to those who don't worship him and accept jesus as their personal savior, god condemns us to an eternity without him. and to make matters worse you're gonna burn for all of eternity as well. so, can you really say his love is that great if he has to use other means to get people to love him? if i were going to throw a party, and let's say it's the greatest party of all time, i would just just say everyone is invited. and if people decided not to come i would be cool with that. i'd even go as far as to say, "hey, no big deal. hopefully, you can make it to the next party." but not god. this guy who loves all of us so much says, "WHAT?!?!!! YOU'RE NOT COMING TO MY PARTY?!?!?!?!!!!! SCREW YOU THEN!!!!! BURN MOTHER-HEEHAW-BURN!!!!!" someone's got self-esteem issues, don't you think?

The fact is that God has nothing to do whatever with religion, since religions are man-made attempts at trying to explain the unexplainable and to control that which cannot be controlled.

Religions often have used (and some still use) fear to contol their members. Fear shows up in such things as "Do it our way, or die and go to hell for all eternity." Some religious sects use banishment or ostracism or shunning to get their members in line with the religious doctrine. Some go so far as to punish with death any who "stray from the truth".

But God didn't create religions. People did.

So, to think of God as a bully is really to put the blame on the wrong guy. Put the bully label on the self-righteous and clueless people who threaten hellfire.

I hope this helps.

If you guys are gonna play with philosophy try staying awake in the class first. Have you really looked at all the angles objectively? Can you ask this question objectively? Everyone who gets on here asking these silly questions already has their mind made up and spins the question just like the media spins the news.
Hell is the absence of God. If you don't choose to party with Him, then this earth is as close as you get. It sucks more to be without God. The fact that Hell is where Satan will be is just the icing on the hellish cake. The fire is not the bad part. It is not a punishment, but a bad choice.
I would dare to say that God is a gentleman for inviting everyone even when we slap Him in the face with insulting questions.

Did you ever think that God's party is the one party that will be so big and so awesome that it will take up so much of the space in the universe that the only place left to be where the party isn't will be in the bowels of the earth? Maybe He's just saying, hey, come to the party cuz I surely would hate it if you had no place else to go except where I know it's all nasty and burning hot? I mean, He didn't really say screw you , He just said okay, don't come if you don't want to, but just so you know, here is the only place left that you will be able to not be at my party and it's really pretty hot and gross. It's just that so many people rsvp'd they'd be here! And I really can't help you if you don't come because I'm just not turning away anyone who wants to be at the party! Maybe God is just stating reality. And besides, at least He was nice enough to tell you in advance that the accomodations outside His party would be nasty..... sounds like love and concern to me! But then, if you believe that, who else can you find to be mad at and make fun of????

P.S. I did hear that it's a come-as-you-are party and that no one will be checking for invites at the door, and no bouncers have been hired to turn people away, so maybe you still have time to find your way there!!!! need a map??

Jesus in the New Testament is wise, and not to be tricked by people manipulating him. I think he only condemned religious hypocrites.

From the Bible, "Judge not, lest be judged", and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Then from the doctors' oath, "First, do no harm."

There are an awful lot of condemning religious zealots who are in for a world of pain when they go to the other side. That and pretending his incredible universe is something some created in a week 6000 years ago. Man, talk about not appreciating someone's work. That really takes the cake.

A humbling God. A typical bully, no. A bully toward bullies, perhaps; I certainly hope so..

in case you do not position self assurance in God then how might want to He bully you? It appears like you've faith in God you in basic terms elect issues to workout consultation your way and at the same time as they don't you get mad a God. If issues save messing up with a lady that you want then perchance you 2 are meant to be or perhaps your doing some thing incorrect. research what your doing and why it isn't operating before you blame God or all and sundry else.

You forget that God is a God of justice. He must punish wrongdoing, or He would rightly be scorned as we would to any judge who slaps the wrist of a lawbreaker.

We have all sinned and broken God's laws. You act like there is no way out. There is a way out. God has to punish someone for the sins, and has so arranged it that He accepts a substitute. This is what we learn from the animal sacrifices -- a lamb dies in place of the sinner. So Jesus, God's son, became the Lamb of God to die in our place. If we admit we are sinners deserving of justice, we may turn to God who will forgive us and guarantee us a place with Him for eternity.

Why be angry at the Almighty when He has taken care of the problem of punishment? You may not like the idea of getting into the electric chair, so you'll make sure you do what you need to to stay out of there. Do the same regarding hell. come to God in repentance and let God keep you out of hell.

I see your point. During our lifetimes, it's a loving offer (how you reconcile grace and telemarketing though is beyond me). After the dividing line of death, it's "depart from me, I never knew you" with tears in God's eyes (so now it's schizophrenia). I'm not saying Christianity is wrong, I'm saying the theology is bad.

Now, if it's MAN that's damaged, then we have a different story. He would have righteously have destroyed Man after the fall of Adam. He is glorified in both salvation and reprobation. However, He has chosen to save some, not all, and provide His own Son as an atonement for our sins.

Dude, you got issues.

God wants one thing. Your love. If you refuse it and make something else more important than him, why should he envite you into His home. He made you. He gave you a free will. You are choosing to live for yourself, and yet you expect God to be cool with that. You use the analogy of a party. Poor example. You should compare it to murder. You are one of the jeering crowd as Jesus hangs on the cross and you dare to errogantly expect God to say,"hey, no big deal. hopefully, you can make it to the next party."

Let's be clear, God isn't condeming or sentencing anyone to Hell. If we went to Hell because of sin, we would all be going... the Christians too. Choosing not to take God up on his gift of salvation is just that... a choice you make. Don't blame God for your bad choices. He gave you the chance and even let you in on the consequences. Make no mistake it is His earnest desire for everyone to join Him in the Kingdom of Heaven, but with free will He knows some will choose to be seperate, but the choice is yours and you are the only one accountable for it. It's kind of like being invited to two parties with NO other choices. One will have great people, great music, great food, the other will suck. Why would you go to the party that sucks?

Yea sounds right to me. What makes it even weirder is the fact that he creates us. If he can create an entire world then I'm shore he would have no trouble to hypnotize us to become another hypocritical zombie follower like some others. I'm not trying to make fun of any one just those Puritan hypocrites.
