No, Adam would not have the kind of following that Earnhardt Jr. has now. One, Junior's father was a winner. Adam's dad is only taking up space because of his name. Second, Nobody really remembers Ralph Earnhardt- Jr.'s grandfather anymore. Whereas Richard Petty is still involved enough for people to remember what a self-righteous egotistical jerk he is.
The bottom line is Earnhardt is the name in the future of racing. The Petty name is just fading glory.

I believe that Adam Petty would've far outshone Dale Jr. if he would've lived. He may have not had the charisma or the sex appeal of Dale Jr., but he had the talent. The Petty family have more of a legacy, more of a sincere allegiance to racing than Dale Jr. To me, and I love Dale Jr., and how his sister is guiding him, is all about endorsements and money. Adam Petty was the real deal, just like Kyle and King Richard. They have a sensibility and down-to-earth aura that translates. Dale Jr. does not. Jr. is just as Hollywood as Jeff Gordon, but he keeps it well hidden.
Jr. has not performed well., it is not DEI's fault. Even when he moves, I believe he will not live up. He is all flash, he is all about big endorsements and money deals. He is mediocre at best. He is blaming DEI, when it is his own talent and focus that is sorely lacking. He will never be his pop.
Adam was real. And who could ever deny that fabulous, warm, glowing,Petty smile? He had heart and soul. What a devastating blow his loss continues to be.
Jr. is a star, no doubt. But has he really earned his popularity? He is coasting on his father. Adam Petty was taken far too soon. He probably could've equaled his granddaddy., if he would've had the chance. I will always miss Adam, and what he could've been.

No, Dale is a little bit better, not by much. I believe he is in the twilight of his Cup days. Unless he turns it around, as in next year, I believe HMS will drop him and not renew him. I doubt Dale Jr. wins any time soon. It's been a long time since he finished in the top ten. I'll even go further, I doubt Dale Jr. wins at all this year. The #88 team has got major problems. Rick can only do so much.

Adam would have had many more wins than Junior by this point. Richard and Kyle both recognized Adam had loads of talent behind the wheel. Junior is so-so as a driver, but his main reason for fame is being lucky to have his daddy's name. Adam would be a top-tier star, Dale Jr. would just be a backmarker.

I saw Adam drive and he was good, and getting better fast. Those who disrespect him either never saw him drive or hated him for some other ignorant reason. Adam was class, and the world lost a great guy when he died. Those who say bad things about him now are showing us how low they are.
I'm a life long Ford fan, and a Carl Edwards fan in particular, but a decent human being who is also a good driver always earns my respect. Adam had my respect. He earned it.
If he had not died, I'm sure he would have lots of fans, and while wins are hard to predict, my guess is he would have won about 20 by now and be a contender for a championship.

Adam Petty would be way better than Dale Jr and Alot ore wins. He would have had twice as much as Dale Jr If he was still alive Richard and His Father would be very proud. It sucks that these tragic things kill some of the sports greatest or killing divers who have started there career. Adam Would hae a great career and possibly a Championship under his belt. Everyone would be proud of him

excellent question, but not too sure. you need to remember that Dale Jr has the equipment needed, where Adam Petty was in my eyes going to be the best driver since Richard and did not have good equipment. But to answer your question, I really don't think he would have the same fan base as Jr.

Honestly I think he would of been good but I don't know petty hasn't been the best of equipment for the past few years
I Generated it saying they pulled him up to Cup full time in 2001
213 Starts Poles- 0 Wins - 0 Top 5s- 11 Top 10s- 29 DNF- 23
In petty equipment up to 2007

Greatness usually skips a generation. Adam would have more wins than his dad, and would most likely have a championship or two already. Sorry all you Jr. fans, but he will always be a "bridesmaid" just like Mark Martin.

Considering Richard Petty is the undisputed King of nascar I would guess if he inherited Richards instead of Kyles genes he'd of been a big dog.Jr comes from poor stock yeah his dad was popular for his reckless driving but push come to shove he was way down the driver talent totem pole now ranked 8th best driver.I couldn't stand earnhardt till just before his end. Then I saw a tv interview and I got to say I learned to like him but he still couldn't drive good.John eb your stats wouldn't apply if he was popular sponsor money would've poored in making Petty cars better!

I think he would have possibly had a bigger following considering all the kids and families that contribute or participate in the Victory Junction Gang. He has a good name and wonderful cause behind him there would have been a run at most popular driver indeed. His family misses him terribly..
