Jumping rope is a high intensity, high impact workout. It's excellent for weight loss, but may be too difficult for someone just starting out. People may experience injuries because of the impact.

If you're looking for a simple, healthy way to lose weight try walking. A daily 20-30 minute walk will increase your metabolism and burn calories, which is what's needed to lose weight. Walk quickly enough that your breathing deepens and you work up a sweat. If it seems too easy, chose a route with more hills, or run every so often. All you need is a supportive pair of shoes.

Of course, if you already jump rope and enjoy it, by all means carry on! Weight loss awaits, if you eat in moderation.

It is one way, however it may not be good compared to a less high impact work out.

Jumping rope for people who are obese can lead to major foot stress injuries. For people who are fit and do high cardio exercises to trim up a bit or just as a warm up for heavier exercise, jumping rope is great.

Yes, jump roping is a great aerobic workout, almost as good as running.
Do it for at least a 1/2 hour at a time plus reduced/healthy eating for results.
