Hello All,
I am wondering what the chances of pregnancy are regarding my situation. My husband and I are NOT ttc but on May 11th had sex using the withdrawl method (only time we could have concieved) . He ejaculated outside and away from me, however I feel I was ovulating at this time. I the past month I have been under extreme stress as well as being on anti-biotics for 10 days for pneumonia. In the last 3 days I have had some very light brown spotting which sometimes happens before af arrives, however it could be implantation bleeding? I have taken 2 pregnancy test the earliest this morning which was neg. For those of you who are more educated about fertility, can you please help me figure out the chances. Thank you all so very much.

What kind of birth control do you normally use? If its the pill, antibiotics will make the pill not work right. It could very well be implantation bleeding. Brown means old blood so the egg could have implated days ago but the blood is just now making its way out.

If the blood is indeed implantation bleeding I believe that its too early to take a test. I would wait it out for 4 or so more days then test again if AF doesnt show. Be sure that you are using a very sensietive test. View the link below and remember the lower the number the better. It means that you only need that amount of the pregnancy hormone to make the test negative. For instance if you take a test that is extremely sensitive and one that is not at the same exact time they will both have different readings.

Good luck!

There's definitely a high chance because he could have pre ejaculated in you before pulling out, I've known a person to get pregnant that way, but you were also uder a lot of stress which could cause abnormal periods, best thing to do is to wait a week or 2 & take another test or go to your doctor and get tested there (blood test is better).

Those pregnancy tests are pretty sensitive, so I would tend to believe them. OTOH, the withdrawl method is the least reliable and often, during intercourse and before the actual withdrawl, tiny amounts of sperm are being leaked out so conception is definitely a possibility. All you can do is wait a few more days and take another test.

My wife tested negative on home pregnancy tests a month after she was pregnant with my daugher. Go to the doctor and get a real test. If you're pregnant, you will want to know it. Home pregnancy tests are not accurate. And the pull-out method DOES NOT WORK!!! Sperm exits through out intercourse. It just comes out much heavier toward the end.

I say wait a few days and try another test if you are concerned... it is kind of early to tell for sure even with the ones that say they test early...its only been two weeks... and when i conceived I "knew" immediately I was pregnant and took the test 2 1/2 weeks after and the "positive" result was almost impossible to see... and it took 15 minutes to show up. I almost missed it.
I hope whatever the outcome is a blessing to your life... (yea or nay)

Have you missed your period? When is it due? The extreme stress could have delayed ovulation, which then would have delayed menstuation. If you did ovulate when you think you did, then stress can not delay menstruation, that's a myth. The spotting could be implantation bleeding. Wait a few days and then test again.

Wow! You sound exactly like me 29 months ago. Same situation exactly.

We have a 20 month old child!

I got pneumonia (with staph) almost as soon as I got pregnant too. I couldn't get over it for 8 weeks. Finally went to the emergency room and talked to some of the nurses. They said that when you get pg, your body sends off hormones that keep you from rejecting the baby...bad news is that this hormone also allows you to get sick easier and stay sick because it keeps your body from fighting off bad bacteria too.

We weren't ttc either. (I thought we were finished...) But he is such a joy and a wonderful God given blessing! ;-)

If you are pregnant--let me be the first to say congratulations!!! :-)

It is possible that you are prgnant because you can get pregnant off of the clear fluid that comes out before the ejaculate. As for the pregnancy test, your body may not be producing enough of the pregnancy hormone so that the test can detect it.

No it doesn't decrease the chances that's false... When a guy goes in you the one sperm that is the winner swims to the egg very fast the rest are killed off... so by the time you go pee your just killing or letting out the non survivors anyway.. the one that made it is already safe at home.. so peeing will not decrease your chances.. though they do say its always good to go pee right after for less infection like bladder etc..

Well my biggest suggestion for you would be to see a gynocologist. If your pregnancy tests came out to be negative, then you are most likely not pregnant. You might want to see your doctor to check out what the brown spotting was all about, though. Be careful & good luck.
