I would have said a pitbull but they can sometimes be dog aggressive and you don't want to introduce that to your rottweiler. I would honestly just get another Rottweiler. They are amazing with kids. I was practically raised with Rottweilers and really can't ask for a better "big dog" then them. Good luck!

An APBT. In the past they were as know as the "Nanny Dog" because they are so great with kids. I have a Pit that is not very well mannered and jumps on anyone who comes to visit, except the children. She just goes to kids and wiggles around them, never jumps on them. When my daughter brought my grandson, a month old, to visit for the first time she sat him on the floor in his seat. The Pit went over to him and sat by him the whole time there were there.
I know that there are many that will read this and give me thumbs down because everyone knows that Pit Bulls are killers and cannot be trusted around kids. So be it. Anyone that knows the past will know that one time the Pit was the most popular family dog in the country.

I'd say another rott of the opposite sex. Altered of course!

I have to disagree with the next post about boxers. Every single boxer I've met (and I had a mixed one predominantly boxer) was excellent with children. The pure boxer that I knew the best was killed while protecting the family's smaller dog from an attacking neighboring APBT with a previous bite record. It actually got into my friends fenced yard, and went for the little guy....Odie comes out of nowhere and lit into it, dying, but he protected his buddy. Never showed an ounce of aggression before. Amazing dog.

If you're looking to get a really big dog try the English Mastiff. They are very laid back, even tempered, very affectionate and are excellent around children.

Great Dane
Boxer
Pit Bull (I know uneducated people will balk at this....but they are known for being excellent with kids if properly raised....just ask my neighbors pit who has 7 terrible brats that beat him up and crawl all over him....he stays very gentle with them)
Labrador
German Shepherd (if raised properly with kids)
Mastiffs are gentle, but big lugs and if one lays or sits on your kid you find your kid alot skinnier lol.
Siberian Huskies
Greyhound
Collie
Australian Shepherd (properly trained to respect kids, otherwise they will sometimes try to "herd" them)
