I like them. Think they are pretty and funny and loving. Never had one, but met quite a few.

Hi I've never owned a Staffy but been around alot of them I think their great as with all Bull Terriers they have fantastic personalities and their so loyal and affectionate and intelligent. I have two English Bull Terriers which I love to death they are the best dogs ever and I greatly doubt I'll ever have another breed ever again. Their my babys and Bullys in no way deserve the bad press they get. The dog is only as good as it's owner and if it turns nasty then it is a reflection on it's upbringing and the way it is kept so punish the owner not the dog!
Your not biased your just smart!

I had 2 staffs for years. The older one was a brindle and he lived until he was 20! Absolute diamond dogs, all my family have them and they are great family pets. never had a problem with them fighting or being unsociable. best breed ever. i now have an english bull terrier, a *****, she is a great family pet, but will happily rip another dog apart given the chance. Lovely with people, horrible with other animals. I think you have made a great choice with a staff. brilliant dogs.
can't fault staffies! The press will always go with whatever dog is in the media. In australia more shepherd dogs kill than any others, yet they have plenty of other breeds. The press just jump on the bandwagon and label them. Its how they are brought up with people that make the dog. the english bull terrier i have is only like that because she was a kennel dog and we rescued her. had we had her from a pup, am pretty certain she would be ok with all other animals. Thats my opinion anyway!

They are a very powerful energetic breed but seem to becoming more popular in the UK.

I have recently set up a new puppy classifieds and alot of the puppies that have been advertised are boxers and staffs.
I don't like the idea of buying a dog as a status symbol. We all know the "I am hard" types with two staffies either arm.

I like little westie type dogs, so maybe I am biased towards smaller breeds. :-)

Every one has their own thoughts of what kind of dog they like, yes staffies do get a lot of bad press, but I think its more likely bad owners, after all they are not born bad. I prefer big cuddly shaggy Old English Sheepdogs personally. I have been into that breed most of my life, and can't see past them.

The bull breeds and powerful breeds can be extremely gentle and loyal dogs. However, they have the POTENTIAL to be dangerous as they can lean towards dog-aggression and are large and powerful dogs. They need a firm, experienced, and dominant owner and if someone is unsure of their ability to keep complete control of their dog then they might want to look into another breed.

On another note they are great dogs and don't deserve the breed discrimination they often receive.

Staffs and the American pitbull have a unwarranted bad image due to biased press and moreover reckless owners. Both are so loving and loyal especially with younger family members-believe it or not. people should take a look at www.lawdogsusa.org/secretweapon.html

i love staffies,, i have 3 .. red girl..white boy,and a red and white girl...before i had these i had a alsation lab cross...she was terrible.. couldnt take her out without trying to get to something to chew or bite..had her put down in end...think she had very bad start.. but my staffies are all soft as a brush ..and yes i can relate to everything being chewd..nothing is safe with a staffy pup..best thing i bought for that was a dog cage..and lots and lots of toys...now they are gr8... they dont deserve the bad press they getting...not all dogs are the same...it how you bring them up that determines how they are as pets...treat them bad they behave bad.(no point being good if u get told off any way)treat them generaly like a child and they are gr8...can be stubborn at times but like i said..they just a four legg'd version of a child..

ive had loads of staffs, bred them, i used to have a pit bull. ive never seen any sign of aggression, they make great family dogs my 3 children have grown up with them, pulled their tails climbed on them. all sorts with not even a growl. my pit bull was the gentlest of all. they just get into the wrong hands people who buy and breed for image and fighting. they are strong dogs but in the right hands they are extremely gentle. i love them to bits i just wish pitbulls wernt illegal i would definitly have 1,( ban the deed not the breed) ps i have 2 staffies & a staffie x bordeaux

All the ones I've met have been great dogs even the ones some 'yobs' have tried to make vicious! They are people dogs but not always good with other dogs.
