yes, everything the previous two said are good ideas. what i would suggest is to just take one day to actually measure out your servings of what you eat (usually) every day; just eat as you normally would but make sure u look at the serving size and see how many servings you are taking in for everything you eat. tally up the total calories, fat, and sugar for that day. now if you look at almost any cereal box, it will tell you that it is recommended to be on a 2,000 calorie diet. you may be surprised to see that your normal eating pattern is quite above that mark, along with total fat per day and sugar per day. the next day you need to change things up. start by cutting portion sizes down and eliminating some of your food "luxuries". you need to measure again and make sure you don't pass that 2,000 mark. if you can do this, you probably won't pass the other two. this will take a little bit of getting used to, but you'll eventually realize what you can and can't eat to stay right at or below the 2,000 mark. easy ways to do this are DRINK LOTS OF WATER. first of all by eliminating juices, sweetened or fruity flavored teas, and soda you've cut soooo much sugar and calories out of your diet. also, drinking water fills you up and won't make you want to eat as badly. if you go out, stay away from fried and sauteed and stick with grilled or baked. don't feel the need to finish your meals, wrap them up for later. say no to desserts. having a sugar rush? eat fresh fruit instead of candy. avoid having seconds (or thirds). switch to lite beer or less beer or no beer (very difficult lol). also by working out, you're eliminating the calories you have. this combination of reducing your calories through diet and burning them through working out is what makes you lose weight. check my source for more details. search online for how many calories you burn for different exercises. it usually tells you the length of time, intensity, and name of activity. good luck man, you can do it!

I commend you for not wanting to starve yourself or crash diet! I'd try Weight Watchers. Depending on what your current eating habits are like, you could drop most of the weight you want to lose in the first week! I started Weight Watchers in February and lost six pounds in the first week (it took four weeks, I think, to lose ten). Doing at least an hour of cardio or cardio and weights five or six days a week will help.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

remove the foods that are high in sugar such as candy, cola, and try not to eat a few hours before you go to bed so that food wont be sitting in your stomach all night.
