Hey Guys,
just curious. Today when I went into town, I had a almost empty coffee that I had to throw out to go into the store I needed to enter. There weren't any trash cans outside, so I ran into a restraunt right next to the store and kindly asked them if I could throw out my drink. The manager then came out, told me I was extremley rude, then tossed her hand at the door and yelled 'Bye'. I was really taken aback. Is what I did rude? Just wondering!

For the last response, you asked, umm, 'what did you end up doing with it',
I actually just took it in, and held it really low and close to me so that it wouldn't spill. I wanted to throw it out because if I dropped it on something, I didn't want to / have the money to pay for it! :) And later I just threw it out at home.

The manager isnt too bright, he just lost a potential customer over a small piece of worthless trash.

Well, I guess I disagree with everyone. The restaurant manager could have behaved much better, but so could you. Why should this restaurant that you did not patronize be responsible for disposing of your trash? You could have left the coffee cup in your car, or looked around until you did find a trash receptacle, or even taken it into the store where you were shopping and ask a clerk there to toss it for you. You could have been more considerate; but it wasn't a serious transgression and I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

I don't think what you did was rude if the events happened as you say it. So just as long as when you asked, your tone didn't sound like it came out of exaperationat at the fact that you were flabbergasted that there were no nearby trash facilities where you felt one was appropriate. I only say that because sometimes people don't realize their tone when asking people to accommodate their needs. But it sounds as though the Manager was rude, regardless of how you said it.

I would have done the same. The restaurant owner is the rude one! No, you weren't rude at all. I think you were very considerate in wanting to dispose of the cup safely.

Extremely rude. And she is an idiot because she lost a possible future customer. I would write the corporate office because she is in the SERVICE industry and this makes the restaurant chain look bad. Bad, bad form.

No, that wasn't rude at all. She was the one acting rude. She probably thought you were business walking in and got upset when she realized she wasn't gonna make any money from you.
