Hell, like heaven, is not only a state of existence, but a literal, and very real, place. It is a place where the unrighteous will experience never-ending, eternal wrath from God. They will endure emotional, mental, and physical torment, consciously suffering from shame, regret, and contempt.

Hell is described as a bottomless pit (Luke 8:31, Revelation 9:1), and a lake of fire, burning with sulfur, where the inhabitants will be tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 20:10). In hell, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, indicating intense grief and anger (Matthew 13:42). It is a place “where the worm never dies and the fire never goes out” (Mark 9:48). God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires them to turn from their wicked ways so that they can live (Ezekiel 33:11). But He will not force us into submission; if we choose to reject Him, He has little choice but to give us what we want – to live apart from Him.

Jesus said it was a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth in Mark 9 where the worm dieth not and the fire is never quenched. luke 16 is story of rich man and lazarus read it. i believe it is unimaginable pain in many forms. first, separated from God for eternity. you will be in a place with no love no compassion and you realize it is forever. some believe it is a temporary holding place(hades) for the dead and at the great white throne judgment death and hell are thrown inot the lake of fire. second thirst will be there rich man in luke 16 experienced this. third memory of your life and all the times you rejected christ will come to mind. fourth realize your in a hopeless situation there is no way out because you missed your chance. only way to miss hell is to Admit your a sinner Believe that jesus died for your sin Confess him as lord. then you are a child of God

Read in Luke the story(not parable) of "Lazarus and the rich man".The unsaved go to Hades to await the" Great White Throne" judgement. Then they are tossed into the "Lake".
Paul says in 2nd Corinthians ,"To be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord"
That's where our spirit stays until resurrection ( as in I Thessalonans 4 : 13 - 18) or if we are alive ,we are raptured,"Caught up "Paul says.(Greek word for caught up is harpazo,Latin is rapturas hence the word rapture).

It's been described to me as separation from God. There is no light and no good. On the other side you are communing with God. When judgement day comes we will be in either Heaven or Hell depending on what choice you made here.

Read what Jesus taught in Luke 16:19-31:

The Rich Man and Lazarus

19"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23In hell,[or hades] where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

25"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'

27"He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'

29"Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'

30" 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'

31"He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "

I have read that you don't go to hell, but you go to a part of heaven where you have to learn your lifes lessons and improve on yourself. Because there is so many levels to heaven so that's where we all go after death.

Don't know, but when I go I'm headed straight to the Promised land to meet my maker face to face.
Hope to see you there.
