I have read the Bible and studied it's history. That is why I became an atheist.
Now, obviously you can read, the question is can you think critically?

Wow, you're not a very nice Christian, are you?
~frowns and studies you to see if you bite as well~
I was a Christian for nigh on thirty years. I know the bible forwards and backwards. I simply expanded my intellect beyond the little bubble provided for me by the church. I know that sounds condescending and normally I would not put it that way in an attempt to be sensitive and supportive of another person's beliefs, but you don't seem concerned with that so I figure it's open season.
Truly, you aren't a very nice person and you seem to be several steps behind in the intellectual department as well. Get out, breathe a little.
Did you realize that life actually DOES exist beyond you?
I'm glad your belief system works for you but you know what? It does not work for me. You can stomp your feet and condemn me to eternal damnation all day long but your little magic spells won't help here. Just live your life in peace and let me do the same.
Ugh, this is exactly why so many people come to feel such anger and resentment towards Christians.
Have a nice day!

Study the Bible and the history of the Bible and you can only conclude that it is just the myths of the Hebrews.
Do you really think a just god would have killed as many innocent people as he did, or condone slavery, or demand death for the "crime" of working on the "sabbath"? If you believe those claims show the Bible is true, then you're delusional. And that's even without mentioning the contradictions to known scientific truths contained in the creation story, the Noah story, the long lifespans, etc.

Not sure where this question is coming from. Everyone knows that most atheists know MUCH more about the Bible than most Christians. Even a lot of Christians are willing to admit that they are surprised by how much more literate that atheists are in regards to the Bible. If you don't believe me, keep trying to argue with atheists on here about the Bible, and what it says. They know EXACTLY what they're talking about.

* Most atheists can read
* There is a negative correlation between intelligence and religious belief
* Generalizing much? Atheism is a lack of belief in gods
* Most atheists know more about how we came to exist than you do
* Many know the bible quite well
* You seem unable to understand the difference between your holy text and the objective truth.

Yes, I know nothing of the bible .... except I finished 3 versions from page 1 to the last page when I was a christian .... unlike most christians who just flip on to certain pages and taking those pages out of context.
What do you think makes me realise the bible is just a book of fictions? The bible say nothing about how we came to exist, just some sentences mentioned by perhaps a person who is suffering from schizophrenia and claims he was talking to god that this god created it. It does not differentiate itself from the other tens of religions that say THEIR god / gods created it. At least the Chinese, Japanese, Hindus gods are more colourful.
The Chinese gods, for example, had a major goddess called Nvwa, creator of man and womenkind where the mankind was modelled after fuyi, the major god who regulate the world and womenkind modelled after herself and dedicate the job of reproducing to the womenkind, because she is human creator, and the job of mending the farmland to mankind. She also mended the holes in the atmosphere when the holes was caused by poor creation of the world when Pang gu created it. Hey .... isn't that more believable since part of the Ozone layer just depleted? Did you god mentioned anything about mending the holes in the sky? :P.

Most atheists know the Bible (and in turn, how flawed it is) better than most Christians.
If the Bible is the True Word of God®, then why are there three very different sets of 'last words' for Jesus in the Bible? Couldn't God ensure that the people writing His Word got the last words of his only begotten Son right?
What a load.
P.S. Oh yeah, plants were created DAYS before the sun that drives their photosynthetic processes was? Please.

I think you have to recognize that not everyone considers the Bible to be infallible. Of course they can read and many have done extensive reading of the Bible, but once you know a bit about abiogenesis, it really isn't more implausible than the genesis story. In fact, it makes more sense because it relies on things that we know exist, as opposed to relying on God, which many of us believe to exist, but which cannot be proven.

Not only can I read, I majored in religion in college and spent a year in a Methodist seminary. I would wager that I could give you a run for your money on Biblical knowledge, even though I haven't formally studied it in 30 years.

Hey, pal -- being rude and insulting isn't useful. It doesn't help the cause of the Kingdom one little bit.
