Well I am poor, or rather I am the American equivalent of the poorest in "M E X I C O, or G A U T A M A L A" except I can't go to those countries and find ready well paying jobs that no body wants. Where do poor Americans go when all the jobs, (yes even the ones no one wants, not even the illegals) are not available? What happens when some one like my self is run out of the only business I know because Guatemalans have fled their dirt poor country to work on my jobs for fifteen to thirty dollars an hour? And how can I compete with five or six guys working on a job maintaining yachts when I only have my self? I can not afford to hire help, not even them. I have been working on yachts for thirty years and make a modest living. The illegals come here in trunks, and in just a few months after working for free, they start making ten dollars an hour. They all live in one house, and send all their money for more to come here. The boat owners who are filthy rich, like the fast cheap work they provide. They can do twice as many boats as me. So who would use them over some one like me who takes longer? They have deliberitly moved in on the waterfront with no regard for the people already there trying to make an honest living to feed their families also. They don,t give a crap for the law, or for honer. And yes they have impacted me and my livelihood. They do not have to pay the costly insurance I have to pay in order to work in the marinas. They are illegal and it does not matter. Yes I am angry. I have hired these people and treated them fairly, which is something I have not received in return. They do not even try to speak English and they never hire an American. Never. They travel in little packs, always on the prwal for more work. They have literally taken over, and they are buying houses, and cars and phones. And this is all acceptable to every one. At least those who are not affected by their job stealing. These are not even Mexicans. So what is their excuse? Do we owe all of Latin America? They also act as if they are owed something. I am a hard worker. I want to work. I need to work. But now I am looking at maybe having to work at Mcdonalds, but we all know that is probably all filled up. So you tell me all you "Americans" who see this as spoiled, lazy white people who don,t feel sorry for the poor, impoverished illegals,( who are basically in the same boat ,pardon the pun) to do for a living when there are no more jobs? What is some one like me supposed to do when the only thing I know how to do is not an option? I can not leave this country and run to another that has better opportunities and future. This is all there is for me. Boy are we completely screwed.

Mexico is a very poor country with a very corrupt government. Many Mexicans live in poverty and I can understand why they would want to cross over the border, even illegally, to provide for their families. I heard that the largest source of income in Mexico is illegals sending money back to Mexico. That is money leaving our economy, not getting spent on American goods and services to support the American economy that the illegals are enjoying.

HOWEVER, when they enter this country, they are breaking the law. When they work, they are taking American jobs. Don't tell me they are taking jobs no American would do. I live in Texas and we have more than our share of Illegals here and the jobs they are doing are jobs many Americans would be glad to do and they are not getting paid poor wages. I know many who are making $10 an hour and some are making considerably more. The local community college lets their kids go there at reduced rates or free. When those kids graduate do you think they are going to mow lawns for a living? They are going after YOUR job, or your childs job.
Before long they will be taking more of the slots available in colleges and universities and you kids might not be able to get in. Of course your kids could always get a job mowing the lawn for the college-educated kids of the illegal immigrants.

(I won't even go into what is happening to our health care system because of the number of illegals who have "Universal Health Care" already---they don't pay---or the diseases that had been irradicated in the US until the last few years!)

I am not without feeling and I understand why they come here.
Why aren't we helping them to build their economy? Everyone would benefit.

They KNOWINGLY and INTENTIONALLY break the law. Period.

Making excuses does NOT change the facts.

A purse snatcher is trying to make a better life too...but he's still breaking the law.

And YES the tens of millions of illegal aliens in this country DO impact us, in a very negative fashion..

Ask Gidget.

But the fact remains THERE IS A LAW against it. And the U.S. government (and the citizens) do not CARE if you agree with it or not.
People cannot pick and choose which laws they agree with and, if they don't, break it anyway.
You can voice your opinion about anything under the sun. If you are a U.S. citizen, you can vote for what you believe in. If not, too bad. Judging by your resopnse (you Americans), I assume you aren't. But don't make excuses for people that break the law, because YOU don't think it's a just law, especially if you don't even live in OUR country!!! Worry about your own.
If you do live here, you sure don't talk like you have assimilated very well, calling people "you Americans". If you live here, you are an American too.

No. They are poor and they enter the country with the intention of making money to support their families because there is no way of finding jobs in their own country. These are the hard workers who come to this country to beat starvation. The other group that come here to commit crimes, felony, rape, burglary, because they have heard there is law to protect the criminal, how every alleged criminal is given a lawer FREE to defend them free them, they can say they are not guilty and the lawyer will do the rest. In their country nothing is free, let alone a legiminate Lawyer appointed by the Court.

well, lots of American citizens are poor but you don't see them getting any "AMNESTY" if they break the law, do you? also, A lot of these illegals are not really that "Poor", I have seen many of these people yapping on their cell phones non-stop. a friend of mine who's elderly and she had to hire some illegal hispanics to clean her house, these people had the nerve, while they can't even communicate with their clients in English, to charge $38.00 per hour for cleaning a house that was immaculate. Many of these illegals are able to purchase expensive cars and homes because many banks would rather lend money(even though they are not supposed to) to these illegals than to American citizens.

If our goverment doesn't wake up and do something about kicking out these blood suckers, the American citizens will be the "POOR" of this country.....

Glitterb.....from all the answers you have given, we can see exactly why "we Americans" should do all that we can to keep the illegals and their anchor babies out of this country, and too bad for you and "your people", you have not developed the ability to realized that it's because of your ignorance of how a civilized society function, and the lack of understanding and respect for the prominant role of laws and order in such society, and most of all, the lack of willingness to follow and practice the laws, that you and the likes of you had to abandone your own ****-hole of a country and to leech off "Us Americans" who have helped you to build that brick house with air conditioning while your cartel of a government take the mail-in money to build their own palaces with beauty queens and coke machines installed.
GO GROW A BRAIN AND SPARE US YOUR IDIOCY!!!

Bleeding heart liberals won't be satisfied until everyone is on some government assistance paying 75% of our income in taxes and basically turn our noation into the communist utopia they envision where all are equal (except Congressmen) and we havae government regulating everything. Then everything will be perfect and there will be work and shelter for everyone. The problem wiht illegals is that there are too many and the Private sector supports it, so unless we put pressure there it willnever get fixed.

i think all of us poor taxpayers should quit paying taxes. millions of us. of course they couldn't possibly round up and arrest millions of us. and if enough people say that we don't like the law then we don' have to obey it. right? of course if we were filthy rich we could get a slap on the hands or go to rehab or a Ritz-Carlton prison and collect our pensions. oh yeah if we were filthy rich we would have loop holes not to pay taxes. or if we were an incompetent CEO who did a lousy job, we would be fired with a really great severance package as in the millions.

They break the law because they know the law will not be enforced. Enforce the law and 95% of them will stop breaking it. No one is afraid of a dog they know has no teeth. And our dog doesn't even bark!
